The relationship between pop stars Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) has been nothing if not attention-grabbing.
The couple, who first made headlines in January, have proven to be the most buzzed-about couple of 2017, whether through their adoration of one another on social media, their presence at public events, or the opinions of their respective ex’s, Justin Bieber and Bella Hadid. Now, however, HollywoodLife reports that Gomez is considering taking the next step in her relationship with her “Starboy” hubby.
While attending the wedding of her Wizards of Waverley Place (2007-12) co-star David Henrie over the weekend, an insider for HollywoodLife claims that Gomez opened up about her current relationship status, saying “Selena got very emotional at David’s wedding and was so happy for him. It was a completely magical moment for her because she saw what true love was all about and realized that is what she has with The Weeknd.”
The insider added that “Seeing David so happy made her think of what she has with Abel and how happy she is and us fully devoted to everything he has brought to her life. It just proved that The Weeknd is her dream man.” This report, coupled with a similar one earlier this year, hinted at the idea that Gomez may be wanting to settle down with The Weeknd in the near future. But are these claims actually true?
According to Gossip Cop, they is not. The site reports that the “Hands To Myself” singer did not in fact come to an epiphany regarding “true love” with The Weeknd, and that the HollywoodLife post in question was false.

“In fact, this isn’t the first time the webloid has pretended to have insider knowledge about Gomez’s relationship,” writes Gossip Cop, who cites a post regarding marriage rumors as another example of being “equally bogus.” Said post, published earlier this month, claimed that “this is the first time a potential marriage with children has been a thought as something serious in Selena’s mind. She would fully consider and expects The Weeknd to be her man for the rest of her life.”
So while it seems the engagement rumors and wedding bells look to be the false, that’s not to say Gomez and The Weeknd couldn’t end up together sometime down the line. The couple were most recently seen getting cozy at a John Mayer concert in Los Angeles.
