French Montana has been in the limelight for some time now, but now it seems he has found himself the victim of social media backlash.

The “No Shopping” rapper and ex-boyfriend of Khloé Kardashian was insulted quite suddenly be a user on Twitter Wednesday night, as she tweeted the message “The fact that French Montana thinks anyone cares about him…” Clearly, Montana (born Karim Kharbouch) felt some type of way about the tweet, and responded back at her with an angry, racially-charged aggression, writing “U musty crusty dusty rusty a*s hoe. With them nappy a*s poetic justice braids and take your c*m drinking d*ck banging a*s somewhere n be humble.”

Almost instantaneously, fans began to criticize Montana’s emphasis on the woman’s “nappy a*s poetic justice braids,” feeling that there was a racist connotation being made by an artist who benefits from an African American artform: hip-hop. Montana, who is of Moroccan descent, was then subject to a tirade of angry users, many of which sided against him in this brief, bitter Twitter exchange.

Montana has since responded to this backlash, taking once again to Twitter to straighten out his stance on African American culture and clarify his comments. “My mother is african queen and I was married to a beautiful black queen,” he wrote, “All I did was defend myself If I affended (sic) anyone I apologize.”

Montana went on to reveal that “My son is black, and I was born in africa I lived there for 13 years” and assert that he isn’t a “punching bag, and I don’t discriminate!” His final tweet was of a more hostile manner, saying “This is a perfect example of even when u defending yourself and minding your Business social media would drag your name thru the mud.”
