Harry Styles left fans thoroughly confused on Wednesday morning, as he tweeted out a link to some fan-made porn involving him and his former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson.

The link, one of many manifestations of the fan-fiction romance “Larry Stylinson” (a portmanteau of Styles’ and Tomlinson’s names) notched over 30,000 likes on Styles’ Twitter, through fans were rightfully confused by the nature of the tweet, assuming that the singer’s account had been hacked. According to Digital Spy, many believed that Styles was thought to be rehearsing for his Saturday Night Live debut at the time, and would have been unable to send the tweet, while others are speculating that it could be a publicity stunt on the part of Styles’ promotional team, as his debut single “Sign of the Times” was released last week.

The latter theory does seem unlikely, as the tweet was quickly deleted from Styles’ account. This didn’t stop fans from taking the news and running with it, however, as a number of One Direction fans were quick to take screen shots of the tweet, which saw Styles’ quote a tweet by a fan with the message “Then and now,” with both an older photo of he and Tomlinson drinking wine together and a more recent photo of Tomlinson. According to The Inquisitr, this has been seen as proof for some that the “Larry Stylinson” theory is alive and well.

Styles and Tomlinson have long denied the rumor that they are a couple, with the latter even taking to Twitter in 2012 to set the record straight on these “bullsh*t” claims. “Hows this,” he wrote, “Larry is the biggest load of bullsh*t I’ve ever heard. I’m happy, why can’t you accept that.” Former 1D member Zayn Malik spoke on the “Stylinson” rumor in a 2015 interview with Fader, saying “There’s no secret relationship going on with any of the band members. It’s not funny, and it still continues to be quite hard for them. But its just the way the fans are. They’re so passionate, and once they get their head around an idea, that’s the way it is regardless of anything. If it wasn’t for that passionate, like, almost obsession, they we wouldn’t have the success that we had.”

Neither singer has yet to comment on Styles’ Twitter gaffe, nor has there been confirmation that there was hacking involved.
