On Return to Amish, viewers see that Jeremiah Raber and his wife Carmela are struggling with their relationship. Even their wedding day a year ago was filled with arguing and tears. At this point, on the show, they have moved and bought a house that needs a lot of work, which puts strain on their relationship. They continue to fight and Carmela says that she feels disrespected. Apparently, things in their relationship have escalated since then, as last month, Radar Online reported that Raber was arrested for domestic violence. According to Carmela, husband Jeremiah “strikes her on a regular basis” and she said that he made “several threats to cause [her] harm.” She also reportedly showed police “several large bruises on her legs and arms” that were allegedly caused by her husband “striking her with a closed fist.”

At the time of the incident, Raber told Radar Online:

I have nothing really to say other then the real truth will come out in the end. This is not a one-way street. It goes both ways and I have the evidence to prove it and it will be released soon enough.

Via social media, Raber expressed that he believes therapy will help him with his wife, stating:

Personal Counseling for both of us will do us both a lot of good. Then on to marriage counseling and our marriage is golden.

Raber also issued an apology after his arrest, saying:

Please allow me to apologize for what I did last week. My behavior was extremely inappropriate, immature, and lacked the respect she deserved. It was a very bad idea to do what I did. It was embarrassing, and I learned that she didn’t deserve my poor behavior. In the future, I have every intention of curbing my thoughtless actions and learn to adjust my behavior befitting the environment and situation. I’m going to go thru personal counseling to better me an the marriage.

As for what wife Carmela has had to say publicly, she wrote, “Stayin doing what i have to to get right,” but Starcasm reports the post was later deleted. Starcasm also reports that the couple appears to be currently separated. Blasting News says that Raber was previously married to Naomi Stutzman, with whom he has three children, and that she also had him arrested for domestic violence.

In Carmela and Jeremiah Raber’s marriage, arguments haven’t been the only issue, as Carmela revealed on Return to Amish that she’s “been there” through Raber’s affairs in their year of marriage. Jeremiah had no response to her statement on the show. Perhaps this has something to do with an incident that occurred in 2016. According to Starcasm, Jeremiah Raber was working on a movie set and was reportedly let go because he was allegedly “lying about conversations that never happened, sexual advancements made to one of the actresses and the repeated statements made by this actor of how he wasn’t sure of his participation with the film.” In response to the incident, Jeremiah released a statement that read:

People make mistakes and I’m one of them. In no way am I saying what I did was right but I can promise that it wasn’t what others made it out to be. Me and Carmela have worked through it and will stand strong til the end.

Wife Carmela also said:

Just wanted to say I’m fully aware of what happened. We are trying to get through this tough time … We’ve all made mistakes in life, Jeremiah and I had a rocky start and this would be one of our worst and in order to get to the better we have to overcome this situation.

The movie that Jeremiah Raber was working on when the incident occurred, was called The Plain People, and star actress Ashley Zambo Geneva was very outspoken when it came to her thoughts on Raber. Starcasm reported that Geneva wrote the following about Raber on social media:

He’s a pig he’s a pervert. He THINKS he’s someone important. In reality, he’s a disgusting manipulative and ew. 100% bragged about cheating on his wife. I’d let it go but since his fans and friends are so obsessed.
