Daniel Ferguson is an impressionist, who sings “Cake By the Ocean” and impersonates judge Simon Cowell on tonight’s episode of America’s Got Talent. Before beginning his act, he confesses to Mel B that his audition is his first time performing in front of a live audience. Her advice to him is not not think about it and “just go.”
When the music begins and Ferguson starts singing strangely, an image of Goofy is posted on a large screen and the judges start to realize that he’s singing as the cartoon Goody. Their puzzlement turns to delight when a photo of Scooby Doo flashes on the screen and Ferguson changes to singing as Scooby Doo. Clearly, this is a very creative way to do impressions. The other characters and people who he includes as impressions in his performance are Kermit the Frog, Family Guy, Simon Cowell, and Mickey Mouse. Throughout his performance, the room was filled with laughter, excitement and surprise.
On Ferguson’s Twitter page, he refers to himself as a Voice Actor Wannabe and he’s been posting about his happiness over his AGT appearance.
When announcing his involvement in auditioning for the variety talent show, Ferguson posted the below video on YouTube. His YouTube channel is titled GingerSNAP and he said that his friends and family encouraged him to audition for the show. Included in the video below, Ferguson features his AGT audition video. Instead of Simon Cowell, Ferguson includes an impression of Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. He also includes the video game star Mario and a Sponge Bob character. Check it out.
