Now that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season three has been available on Netflix since May 19, you might be wondering when the show will be returning for a fourth season. Netflix officially renewed the show on June 13. A premiere date hasn’t been set, but it will likely debut next spring.

Each season of the show has been posted in the spring. Season one went live on March 6, 2015 and season two was available on April 15, 2016. Season three was posted on May 19, 2017. At this rate, season four will be posted in June 2018! At least the wait between seasons has been consistent, unlike Master of None.

Season three of Kimmy Schmidt continued along the zany lines set during the second season. We learned that Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) was actually married to Rev. Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm) and he was trying to get a divorce so he could marry Wendy Herbert (Laura Dern). Kimmy refused to sign the divorce papers to keep Wendy from getting into a poisonous relationship. Meanwhile, she also gave the old college try, enrolling on Columbia. It didn’t work out, but at least she met a tech genius classmate who gave her a job in the end.

Titus (Tituss Burgess) also had his own troubles to work out, as he ditched a cruise and tried to get back with his boyfriend, Mikey (Mike Carlsen). In the finale, Titus really thought that the success of “Boobs in California” would help him win Mikey back. It didn’t work, but at least Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) figured out what her career should be. She’s going to be a talent agent (or guidance counselor bather) and help Titus’ career.

Jacqueline also became a changed woman when she realized that she does have the capacity to care for other people and got the Washington Redskins to change their name to the Washington Gun-Takes. Lillian (Carol Kane) also learned that her obsession with the past isn’t healthy and started a relationship with Artie (Peter Riegert).

There still hasn’t been much talk about a fourth season. In his Vanity Fair interview, Burgess said the last scene he filmed with Mike Carlsen, who plays Mikey, made him sad. The two are friends and he thought that might be the last time they work together professionally.

“I don’t know what’s happening in Season 4, so for all intents and purposes, that was going to be one of the last times I was going to see Michael, at least in a working capacity. So I was sad,” Burgess told Vanity Fair.

We’ve also learned that the series takes place in the same universe as Orange is the New Black. During “Kimmy Steps on a Crack!,” Gretchen (Lauren Adams) goes to Litchfield Penitentiary, where she meets Black Cindy (Adrienne C. Moore). Kimmy Schmidt co-creator Robert Carlock told Entertainment Weekly that he even got the OK from OITNB creator Jenji Kohan. So there’s another incentive for more Kimmy!

Kimmy Schmidt was created by Tina Fey and Carlock. It’s been nominated for 11 Emmys.
