The Asbury Park Press has reported that cast members of the hit MTV show “Jersey Shore” have been spotted in Point Pleasant Beach and Asbury Park over the past month, filming a reunion show.

“They were here for a couple of hours and had dinner and played boardwalk games,” said Toby Wolf, director of marketing for Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.

The show’s producer, Los Angeles-based Bright Road Productions, applied for a permit with Asbury Park to film on the boardwalk and beach area, according to Asbury Park Press.

Mike “The Situation” confirmed rumors that the cast was reuniting on July 7, via his social media:

It doesn’t look like MTV will have anything to do with this version of the show. An MTV spokesperson told the Asbury Park Press that it was not part of a project with the network. According to silive.com, the reunion show was rejected by Seaside Heights, where the original show filmed from 2009 to 2012. The production company, Bright Road Productions, is also a different company than the one MTV used to produce the show.

Asbury Park Mayor John Moor also confirmed the filming:

“Oh well, they’ve been reading the paper and they know Asbury Park is the place to be,” said Moor. “No, we did not know they were coming as they applied under ‘Roadtrip Reunion’. They paid their fees and everything worked out fine.”

Not everyone has been as welcoming to the the reunion show. Producers wanted to to shoot inside the Langosta Lounge restaurant on the Asbury Park boardwalk, but management declined.

“They called 10 days before they wanted to film and we said no freaking way,” said Langosta Lounge entertainment director Peter Mantas. “Bring those meatheads to the Langosta Lounge? No way.”
