Lena Headey is the actress behind Cersei Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones, and she returns for the show’s penultimate season on Sunday, July 16th.

The 43-year-old actress has also starred in movies like 300 and Dredd, but it was Game of Thrones that really put her on the map. In real life, Headey lives in London, England, and she has two children.

Here’s what you need to know about the family of Lena Headey.

1. She Was Married to Peter Paul Loughran For Five Years

Lena Headey attends the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on August 25, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.

In May 2007, Lena Headey married Peter Paul Loughran, a musician. Five years later, in 2012, Headey and Loughran filed for divorce. According to PEOPLE Magazine, they had been separated since 2011.

The divorce was finalized in December 2013, according to the Toronto Sun. In 2015, Headey said in an interview with More Magazine (via US Magazine) that she was in a period of mourning after the divorce.

“It’s tough,” Headey said. “There’s a lot of hurt and sadness and disappointment. Grief. Massive grief. It’s a mourning process, and yet nobody’s died.”

She also told The New York Times that she tried to put some of this grief into her performance of Cersei Lannister “in a way that was cathartic for me, otherwise I’d have had a meltdown.”

2. She Has a Son With Her Ex-Husband

Lena Headey has a son, Wylie Loughran, who she gave birth to while she was married to Peter Paul Loughran. Her son was born in 2010 and is now seven years old.

When Headey and Loughran divorced, they agreed that Headey could take Wylie with her when she’s shooting Game of Thrones around the world, but she would have to pay for Loughran to accompany them, according to the Toronto Sun.

In 2016, Peter Paul Loughran said that Lena Headey had violated their joint-custody arrangement by keeping Wylie in the U.K. even when Game of Thrones was not being filmed. According to TMZ, Headey wanted to keep Wylie in the U.K. because she preferred the school system there. Headey and her lawyer also said that Peter had agreed that they would all move to the U.K.

According to The New York Times, Lena and Peter have since come to an arrangement, and he now lives in England.

3. She Also Has a Daughter, Teddy

Lena Headey in July 2015 gave birth to a second child, Teddy.

For a while, it was unclear who the father of Headey’s child was. When asked about this in a 2016 interview, Headey simply said, “I like to keep my personal life private.”

However, it was recently revealed in The New York Times that the father is Dan Cadan, a director with whom Lena Headey worked on the 2009 short film The Devil’s Wedding.

4. She Is Engaged to Dan Cadan

Lena Headey attends the “Game Of Thrones” Season 4 New York premiere at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center on March 18, 2014 in New York City.

Dan Cadan, the director with whom Lena Headey has a two-year-old son, is now Headey’s fiancé.

This is something that was not known until a recent New York Times piece about Headey, which casually mentions that Cadan proposed to Headey this past spring. They plan to marry next summer.

“I always said to him, ‘Don’t ever ask me to marry you, it’s a disaster,’” Headey told The New York Times. “But it actually feels really wonderful.”

According to the New York Times, Dan Cadan is someone Lena Headey has known since childhood, but they only started dating a few years ago. On Twitter in 2015, Headey said that she had fallen in love, though she did not name Dan Cadan.

5. She Lives a Few Minutes Away From Her Parents

Lena Headey attends the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium on January 18, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.

These days, Lena Headey lives in West Yorkshire, England, a few minutes away from her parents, Sue and John Headey.

In an interview with The New York Times, Headey said that this was the main reason she moved from Los Angeles to England.

“I would’ve stayed in L.A. and played the game, but I want my kids to have a bit of grounding,” she told The New York Times. “In the last two weeks, my son has said to my dad, ‘I just want to be like you, Grandpa.’”

Both of Headey’s parents are retired. They raised Headey for the first five years of her life in Bermuda before moving back to England, where Headey grew up. According to Men’s Health, John Headey is a retired police officer. Lena Headey also has a brother, Tim.
