Last week, Tyrion sent a letter to Jon Snow from Daenerys. She told him to invite him to Dragonstone, but to also tell Jon to “bend the knee.”
It looks like Tyrion left that part out of the letter he actually sent to Jon.
The letter reads:
Queen Daenerys Targaryen First of Her Name, invites you to Dragonstone. My queen commands the combined forces of Dorne and the Reach, an Ironborn fleet, legions of Unsullied, a Dothraki horde and three dragons. The Seven Kingdoms will bleed as long as Cersei sits on the Iron Throne. Join us. Together we can end her tyranny. I appeal to you, one bastard to another, for all dwarves are bastards in their fathers eyes. — Tyrion Lannister, Hand of the Queen
So yes, it appears that Tyrion left out the part where Dany told him to inform Jon Snow that he must come and bend the knee. That was probably a good idea. Jon likely would have really second guessed the idea of coming to Dragonstone if he knew it would require bowing to Dany.
Now, whether or not Jon will decide to “bend the knee” is up for debate. He knows that the battle to the North is of utmost importance and that Dany not only controls access to dragonglass but also has three dragons that can make quick work of the White Walkers. So he may ultimately decide that bending the knee is a worthy price in light of the greater threat that is upon them.
Do you think Jon will bend the knee? Do you think Tyrion was right not to include that in the letter? Let us know in the comments below.
