In The Incredible Jessica James, Williams stars as the title character, an aspiring playwright who just broke up with a guy and is now trying to be friends with another guy. It was written and directed by James C. Strouse, who also wrote and directed the 2015 indie movie People Places Things. That film also starred Williams.
Williams told the Chicago Sun Times that the character was created just for her.
“It felt so amazing to be offered this — and written by a white man, for me,” Williams told the Sun Times. “That also made me feel good. Okay, this is a nice tribute to black-white relations. That’s a very good thing.”
