Tonight is the Men Tell All Special for The Bachelorette 2017 and often, the identity of the next star of The Bachelor or Bachelorette is revealed on the After the Final Rose Special. Next week airs the finale episode, along with the ATFR Special, but it doesn’t sound like the next star of The Bachelor 2018 will be announced. Host Chris Harrison recently told E! News that a new star has not yet been chosen and that production may wait to see how Bachelor in Paradise plays out before a selection happens. Last season, Nick Viall appeared on BIP and he ended up as the star of The Bachelor 2017. So, someone from BIP could definitely be a pick. Fan-favorite Bachelorette contestant Dean Unglert is a good candidate and he is even appearing on BIP this summer as well. In the above video, show host Harrison dishes on the status of the next Bachelor star decision, as well as finale info for The Bachelorette 2017.
When asked about potentially being the next Bachelor star, Unglert told E! News that at least, for now:
I just don’t think I’m ready for it. I just think that from an emotional standpoint I need to figure out a lot more about myself before I dive in and be the lead of anything. I think I have a ways to go before I’m ready for something like that … I don’t want to say I have no interest in being the Bachelor. I just think I still have a lot of personal growth to do before I’m ready for something like that.
As for Unglert’s top pick on who could be a great star on the show, he joked:
Hands down, Peter Bachelor 2018, if that’s possible! I don’t know if he’s engaged or not. But I would gladly concede to Peter as next Bachelor.
Before Nick Viall took on the role of The Bachelor last season, Luke Pell from Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette was a favorite of fans. At the time that the 2017 star choice was still being decided, Pell talked about the possibility of starring on the show to Life and Style Magazine. He said:
I would have to make the decision at the time, but I don’t think so. It’s an interesting experience … It really derails your life. You have to really be emotionally in the right place. Right now, if it were today, I would probably turn it down.
So, even if Pell was offered the experience, there’s a chance he would say no.
