Tonight, Greenleaf is returning to OWN with a 2-night premiere.
In Tuesday night’s episode, “The Bear”, things come to a head between Grace and Mac, and Jacob offers the Bishop an olive Branch. Kevin also makes a decision that leaves Charity upset.
Last week, it was announced that the show would be renewed for a third season. Around the same time, Deadline revealed that Rick Fox, who plays journalist Darius Nash, has been bumped to a series regular for the new season.
Wednesday night’s episode, “Call Not Complete”, will focus on Jacob and Kerissa creating their new ministry. Darius also gets an attractive work offer tempting enough to pull him out of town.
In a recent statement, Erik Logan, the president of OWN, said: “We can’t wait to see what another season of ‘Greenleaf’ will bring. This series was instrumental in evolving OWN’s scripted programming and it continues to pull in viewers each week with its unique storytelling and characters.”
Deboray Joy Winans, who plays Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee on the show, recently spoke to TV Insider about tonight’s midseason premiere. Now that she knows her husband Kevin doesn’t exactly like women, things are gonna change in the Satterlee household.
Asked by the outlet why her character didn’t attend the faith-based gay-conversion program with him, and if it’s contrary to her church upbringing not to do so, the actress said: “When Charity decided not to go there, she wasn’t thinking about the church or the scandal. It wasn’t even about Kevin. It was all about Charity and what she needs right now.”
She also hinted that tensions are abnormally high between her and Kevin, and she’s not sure how much more she can put up with. “When she left town she thought they were still a team—at least in terms of raising their son—and now she can’t even find him. This man needs to consider his child above all else! This is no time for selfishness.”
The second half of season 2 will return with it’s two-night premiere tonight, August 15, on OWN at 10pm ET/PT.
