Solar Eclipse Cocktails

If there ever was a good reason to do a little day-drinking, a rare solar eclipse would probably be it. If your are taking a little time off today to enjoy the event, here are few fun drinks to try.

DARK SIDE OF THE SUN – See you there! From The Manual


Ingredients:

– Satsuma Rum Liquerur rinse
– 2 parts Bayou Select Rum
– 1/2 part simple syrup
– Mole Bitters

Instructions – Rinse a rocks glass with Satsuma and let sit. Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice, and stir until cold – roughly 60 stirs. Strain into Satsuma rinsed glass over ice. Optional: garnish with an orange peel.


How to make simple syrup

Ingredients:

1 part water
1 part sugar

Instructions – heat water and sugar slowly in saucepan until sugar has dissolved. Be sure to stir frequently. Allow to cool.

SOLAR ECLIPSE – From Patrone


Ingredients:

1.5 oz Patron XO Cafe
.75 oz Fresh lemon juice
.5 oz Simple syrup
4 oz Aranciata (Italian orange) soda
Half slice of orange for garnish

Instructions – Fill a highball glass with ice and add all liquid ingredients. Garnish with half a slice of orange (preferably a blood orange or Valencia orange).


SUPERMOON – From space.com

Ingredients:

1 oz. tequila
1/2 oz. triple sec
3 tablespoons of cream of coconut
splash of lime

Instructions – Just mix and enjoy!


BLACK HOLE SUN – From delmarvanow.com


Ingredients:

Cointreau orange liqueur
dark rum
coke
garnish with orange wedge

Instructions – Mix to taste.


CORONA SOLAR SIPPER – From The Manual


Ingredients:

12 oz Corona
2 oz tequila
1 oz lime juice
.75 oz organic agave nectar
lime weadge

Instructions – Combine tequila, lime juice and agave nectar in a shaker with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain into a glass, top with Corona and garnish with lime wedge.

Ingredients:

1.5 oz tequila
.5 oz mezcal
ginger beer
angostura bitters
lemon wheel
brandied cherry

Instructions – Stir tequila and mezcal together with ice. Top with ginger beer and bitters. Garnish with a lemon wheel and a brandied cherry
