Trick-or-treating every year on Halloween is what many children look forward to and this year, the holiday falls on a Tuesday. Most areas still have trick-or-treating on the Tuesday, but some areas feature the celebration over the weekend. Generally, times are set by town boards and city councils and usually run between 2 – 9 p.m. Below, we have gathered information on each state in the country, with links to check out specific times in your individual county or location. Keep in mind that local grocery stores, malls, churches and schools often hold trick or treating events. So, if we don’t have your specific town or county listed below, check with your local establishments. Alabama – There is a website called TrickOrTreatTimes.com, but there are only a couple areas in each state listed. For most of central and southern Alabama, the trick or treat times range from 5 – 8 p.m., while some areas have trick-or-treating times open all day. Rocket City Mom reports that there are several big Trunk or Treat events going on in Huntsville and North Alabama. Participating locations for Kroger and Publix supermarkets will host trick-or-treating events, but be sure to check with your local store. Only certain stores will feature the event and they will determine which day. In addition to collecting candy at the events, often times, there will be additional activities like decorating cookies or playing games. The USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital is southern Alabama is holding a Trick or Trot 5K and Fun Run at 6 p.m. Click here to register. This is a fund-raising event and less of a trick-or-treating event. Dexter Avenue in Mountain Brook’s Crestline Village in Birmingham, Alabama is said to be one of the best places to go trick-or-treating, according to Southern Living. On October 27th, from 4 – 6 p.m. there will be the UAH Trunk or Treat at Charger Park, UAH Campus, and the event is free. There will be a costume contest, pumpkin decorating, candy and games. From 4:30 – 7:30 p.m., the Huntsville Depot and Museum will hold the Earlyworks Halloween Bash. Bring your trick-or-treating gear and adults enter for free, while children are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. In Point Mallard Park, there is the Decatur Parks & Recreation Trunk or Treat on October 27th, from 6 – 9 p.m. Admission is 2 canned goods per person. A costume contest and live DJ, along with candy and games awaits attendees. Huntsville Customs Trick or Treat at Bojangles in Madison is held October 27th, from 6 – 9 p.m. and the event is free. This event has rides. Huntsville Botanical Garden is holding an event on October 28th from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. There are hayrides, mazes and additional activities available for: Members $5 & Non-Members $5 plus Garden Admission. On October 28th, the Bellingrath Gardens and Home is holding a Halloween event that is $13 for adults and $7.50 for kids ages 5-12. The event features food trucks, trick-or-treating and other activities. Lowe Mill A&E in Huntsville is a free trick-or-treating event on October 28th from 1 – 4 p.m. Also on the 28th, from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. is the Halloween Express Mall-O-Ween Extravaganza at Parkway Place Mall, which is a free event as well. The Interior Marketplace Trunk or Treat is free and features apple cider, face-painting and music from 3 – 5 p.m. on October 28th. Parker Chapel UMC Trunk or Treat’s event has a cake walk, a raffle and other activities. The event is held at Parker Chapel United Methodist Church, Madison on October 28th, from 4 – 6 p.m. The Trunk or Treat at Sparkman Ninth Grade School will actually feature food trucks and the event is free as well. It runs from 6 – 8 p.m. Paul McDonald from American Idol will be at the Trucks & Treats at Campus 805 on October 29th, from 1 – 4 p.m. and the show is free. The event is hosted by The Net Church. For some fun for adults as well as children, check out LulaBoo, which is put together by a group of LuLaRoe Retailers. It’s at the Jaycee Building in Huntsville and runs from 1 – 4 p.m. on October 29th. There are several other churches in the Huntsville area, who are holding trick or treat events as well. This is a good rule of thumb for all communities. Many trick-or-treating events are held at local churches and schools. For those looking to attend the Autism Society Trunk or Treat Picnic, an advance RSVP is required, though the event is free. The RSVP date has passed, but you could still give it a try by emailing email@example.com. The event is from 3 – 6:30 p.m. on October 29th at Dublin Park. On October 31st, the Byrd Spring Aquatic Association is holding a free trick-or-treating event from 6 – 9 p.m. In Madison, Alabama, you should definitely check out the Nightmare on Skate Street 2017 on October 31st. It runs from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and the cost is free. But, the main activities are from 5 – 8 p.m. The Great Pumpkin Patch Halloween Festival is a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday and it runs from October 27th – 31st. Alaska – Alaska Parent lists a few areas and their trick-or-treating events online for Juneau, Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula and a few others. One big event in Alaska is called Trick Or Treat Town, which provides an indoor event where children can collect candy, but, unfortunately, if you are trying to find out more information about the event, last year was its final year. This event went on for 24 years. KTUU has a list of Halloween and trick-or-treating events for the Anchorage area and you can check it out by clicking here. There is a free Trunk or Treat event at Faith Lutheran Church Alaska on October 27th from 5 – 7 p.m. and Trick or Treat Street runs from 12 – 4 p.m. in Downtown Anchorage on October 28th. The Annual Haunted Halloween Fun Night is on October 28th at the UAA Student Union from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. Any proceeds from the event go to the organization and for charity. In addition to trick-or-treating, there are a host of other events across the state, such as musical productions, haunted houses, festivals, and masquerade balls. Halloween Happenings is at The Center in the Anchorage area and it features trick-or-treating, games, face-painting, and other activities. The price for this is $7 per child, $10 per adult or $30 per family, and it runs from 5 – 9 p.m. on October 31st. Juneau Empire has reported that over 50 businesses will open their doors to trick-or-treaters in the downtown area. On October 31st, from 2 – 6 p.m. various establishments that run along Seward Street, Front Street and Franklin Street will participate. Arizona – There are several specific trick or treat times, which are generally between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. and you can check out areas including Avondale, Chandler, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix and Surprise when you click here. If you do not see your town, scroll down further for the archive, which lists trick-or-treating times from the past, to give you an idea. To check on local trunk or treat and trick or treat events via Facebook, click here. Often, places that hold trick-or-treating events are generally grocery stores, local businesses, community centers, malls, schools, churches, temples and hospitals.
Arkansas – There are many events for trick-or-treating and here are some specifics. The Sedona Running River School is holding its annual Pumpkin Picnic from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on October 29th, according to Verde News. The event is perfect for those in the Sedona and Verde Valley area. It features a “bring-your-own” group picnic, pumpkin carving, face-painting and other activities. On October 31st from 5 – 7 p.m., the Camp Verde Parks & Recreation will host its annual Main Street Trunk or Treat Halloween Festival. The streets will be closed down from the Circle K store to the Camp Verde Feed Store. There is also a Trunk or Treat event at the American Legion in Cottonwood, Arizona on Halloween night from 5 – 7 p.m. Old Town Cottonwood will also be hosting its 22nd Annual Safe Night for trick-or-treaters as well. For those in the Scottsdale, Arizona area, Event Brite has several trick or treating events listed. Click here to check them out. There are a bunch of trick-or-treating events for Phoenix, Peonia, Tucson and other areas listed as well. If you cannot find your area, Google your town’s name or your county and type in “trick or treat time.”
California – See California has a ton of Halloween parties and trick-or-treating events listed on their website, which you can check out here. It covers events all over the state. If you are looking in the Los Angeles area, Red Tricycle has a list of the best and safest neighborhoods for trick-or-treating. When it comes to times, it’s best to check with your individual town. However, you can probably start expecting kids from when school lets out, around 3 p.m. until between 8 and 9 p.m. on Halloween night. There are also trick-or-treating events in a variety of areas that run all over the state.
Colorado – Colorado trick-or-treating times can differ, but an old article in the Gazette has a good rule of thumb. A Colorado Springs city spokeswoman named Sue Skiffington-Blumberg explained: There are no real set times. Traditionally, trick-or-treating has started at dusk … The signal people use to welcome trick-or-treaters is to have their porch lights on. It generally ends around 8 or 9 p.m. When it comes to events, The Coloradoan reports that Tiny Tot Halloween takes place in Downtown Fort Collins on October 31st at 10 a.m. it’s for children ages 7 and under, along with adults. Gather in the Old Town Square for trick or treating. This is a free event. Meanwhile, Treatsylvania runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on October 27th; 6 to 8 p.m. on October 28th; 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. on October 29th. It takes place at The Farm at Lee Martinez Park, is free for adults and all children are $5 for entry. If you are in the Denver, Colorado area, The Denver Channel lists the following neighborhoods as the best for trick-or-treating: Hilltop, Whittier, Country Club, Westwood and Cory-Merrill.
Connecticut – Places For Kids CT has a big list of events for Halloween throughout the state of Connecticut. WTNH Connecticut News reports that 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. are the most popular trick-or-treating times. If you are near Bethel, Connecticut, you can attend Halloween Trick or Treat Street, which is at the Municipal Center Lawn & Gym. The event runs October 28, 2017 from 12 – 4 p.m. and features music, trick-or-treating, a magic show and a costume contest. Downtown Willimantic hosts a Halloween night event from 5 – 7 p.m. with local businesses giving out candy to trick-or-treaters. In the Stamford area, the Stamford Museum website reports that the Trick or Treat on Heckscher Farm event has been postponed to November 5th. It is a free event.
Delaware – Last year, Delaware Online published a list of towns in the Fox Valley area with specific hours for Halloween trick-or-treating. Generally, they range from 3 – 8 p.m. WMDT published a list of times as well, for towns including Rehoboth Beach and Frankford. If your town is not on either of these lists, you should specifically look up for town or check with your local municipal building. According to Delmarvalife, the trick-or-treating times are set in most areas on Halloween night from 6 – 8 p.m. for children ages 12 and under. On October 27, from 5 – 8 p.m. the Dover Police Department’s Second Annual Trick-or-Treat Event will be held. Also in the Dover area, Dover Main Street reports that over 70 businesses are participating in trick-or-treating from 11 a.m. –
2 p.m. Click here to check out which stores are participating in the event. There is also a Sea Witch Festival in Rehoboth, Delaware from October 27 – 29th. Check with your local businesses, churches and communities for other trick-or-treating times in your area.
Florida – TrickOrTreatTimes has a huge list of towns with specific times for trick-or-treating in Florida. Click here to check it out. WKBN lists trick-or-treating events and times for Columbiana, Lawrence, Mahoning, Mercer and Trumbull counties. Events include Wee the People Trunk or Treat in Downtown East Liverpool, Community Action Agency of Columbiana County’s Trunk or Treat, the Boardman Bridge of Hope Church Trunk or Treat, Boardman Training Center’s Trunk or Treat, Poland Trunk or Treat, Trunk or Treat at Faith Community Church, Olde Town Grove City Merchant Trick or Treat & Halloween Parade, Great Pumpkin Indoor Trick or Treat, Champion Christian Church’s Trunk or Treat, Fowler Market Trick or Treat/Halloween Bash, Free Trick-or-Treating at Concord Care Center of Hartford, Autumn Hills Care Center Trunk or Treat, Niles Christian Assembly Trunk or Treat, Niles Trunk or Treat, Southington Trick or Treat Night at the Park, St. Thomas the Apostle Community Trick or Treat, Bolindale Trunk or Treat at Bolindale Christian Church and Trunk or Treat at Victory Christian Center’s Warren Campus. Event Brite has a list of events going on in the Miami, Florida area for trick-or-treating and you can click here to view it. A couple events include Halloween on Lincoln Road on October 31st at 5 p.m. and Dolphin Mall’s Spooktacular Halloween from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. on October 31st. In addition, Miami Scapes reports that Sunset Drive (SW 72nd Street) Between US 1 and Red Road (57th Avenue) will have Safe Streets Halloween Trick or Treating on Halloween night from 5 – 7 p.m. If you are in the Orlando area, you can check out the best Halloween and trick-or-treating events via Fun4OrlandoKids. Georgia – If you are in central Georgia, 13MAZ reports that some counties do not have set times. Generally, however, AJC says hours are usually between 4 and 9 p.m. If you are looking for times in the Atlanta area, you can click here for previous times and Event Brite also has a list of trick-or-treating events in the area as well. Many of them are free. 13WMAZ also has a list of times for trick-or-treating throughout central Georgia.
Hawaii – With there being several islands as part of Hawaii, trick or treating times and areas will definitely vary. For those in Honolulu, Honolulu Family has listed trick-or-treating and Halloween events that are available for the holiday. Spooky BOO!reakfast at Dave & Buster’s on Auahi Street runs from 8 to 10:30 a.m., with a breakfast buffet, costume contest and other activities. Also on October 28th, there is the Pre-Halloween Event and Trunk & Treat at ‘Aikahi Park Shopping Center, Halloween Fun at the Hawai‘i Kai Library, the Mililani Backyard Night-Halloween Event, and the Mililani YMCA 5th Annual Trunk & Treat. Trick or treat events for October 29th include the Keiki Halloween Costume Contest and Trick-or-Treat at Hale‘iwa Store Lots, Keiki Halloween Costume Contest and Trick-or-Treat at Royal Hawaiian Center, and Keiki Costume Ball at the Hawai‘I Children’s Discovery Center. On October 31st, Honolulu Family has a detailed list of the best spots for trick-or-treating and they include the Ala Moana Center, Ho‘okele Elementary School, International Marketplace, Kāhala Mall, Ka Makana Ali‘i, Kāne‘ohe Bay Shopping Center, Kapolei Marketplace, Kapolei Shopping Center, Koko Marina Center, Mililani Public Library, Mililani Shopping Center, Pearlridge Center, Royal Hawaiian Center, Town Center of Mililani, Wai‘anae Public Library, Ward Village and Windward Mall. Most of the event times range from 5 – 7 p.m. For events in your area, check with local malls, churches, schools and community organizations.
Idaho – When it comes to trick-or-treating on Halloween, times vary in each community, during the late afternoon and into the night. According to WOW1043, Nampa, Idaho is America’s #1 trick-or-treat area. The other nine cities on the list include Racine, WI; Elgin, IL; Kenosha, WI; Appleton, WI; Dearborn, MI; El Paso, TX; Aurora, IL; Kennewick, WA and Orem, UT. The Idaho Press also previously reported that Nampa is top for trick-or-treating. Idaho Press also reports that trick-or-treating in Nampa will begin a little later this year, running from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on October 28th, downtown, from 12th Avenue South to 15th Avenue South and between First Street South and Second Street South.
Illinois – Chicago has a range of different times for trick-or-treating. Some towns feature trick-or-treating with businesses over the weekend during the day as well. On Halloween, hours were previously reported for trick-or-treating as being from 3 – 7 p.m. in Clarendon Hills, La Grange, Oak Brook and Willowbrook, according to the Chicago Tribune. The town of Northbrook previously had trick or treat hours of 4-8 p.m., so every area can vary in their official times. Loeber Motors has posted several Halloween and trick-or-treating events in the Chicago area on their website for the weekend. Be sure to check with your individual town.
Indiana – The Herald Bulletin reports that towns throughout Madison County have set official hours for trick-or-treating in the past. The Indy Channel has a list of trick or treat times for across central Indiana on Halloween. Click here to read the list. Trunk-or-Treat times for the weekend are listed on the site as well. And, Safe Night Halloween Trunk or Treat at Indiana State Fairgrounds will take place on Halloween from 5-7 p.m. ET. For trick or treat hours in Louisville and southern Indiana click here.
Iowa – In Iowa, some communities are calling trick-or-treating “beggar’s night”. KCCI has a full list of Beggar’s Night and trick-or-treating dates and times for Iowa. Click here to check out the list. You should also check with your local community for trick-or-treating events such as “trunk or treats”. Often, local businesses, malls, schools and religious organizations participate in them.
Kansas – KansasCity.com lists a bunch of events for Halloween and trick-or-treating in the surrounding areas via their website. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has warned about the risk of offenders on Halloween in the past, giving safety tips when trick-or-treating. Different counties vary in their times for trick-or-treating, so it’s best to Google the name of your town or just wing it. Most expecting houses will not turn away trick-or-treaters unless they start knocking on doors after 9 p.m. If you are in the Wichita area, click here for some trick-or-treating or Halloween events going on. Events include but are not limited to Trunk or Treat in Carriage Parkway Shopping Center, Cross Road Church Trunk or Treat, Trick or Treat at The Village at Greenwich Candy, Trunker Treat 2017 and Mead’s Corner Trunk or Treat.
Kentucky – If you’re in the Lexington or central Kentucky area … on Halloween night for Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison, Scott and Woodford counties, the trick-or-treating times have been previously set for 6 – 8 p.m. Additional times for Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties were listed last year via Cincinnati.com. WKYT reports all the trick-or-treating times for a bunch of counties in Kentucky. Most range from 5 – 7 p.m. or 6 – 8 p.m.
Louisiana – For some info on events going on in the central Louisiana area, click here for The Town Talk’s report. “Trunk-or-Treat” is sponsored by the Junior League of Alexandria on October 28th and Alexandria Mall stores will be participating in trick or treating on October 31st. If you’re trick-or-treating in the New Orleans area, there are tons of events going on. The New Canal Lighthouse is hosting a candy-filled event on Sunday, October 29th from 4 – 6 p.m., according to the Daily Comet. In the Baton Rouge area, the The Mid City Makers Market will host its annual event from 4 – 8 p.m. on October 28th. If you need more information about your town’s official trick-or-treating times, check with your local administration building or Google your town name and “trick or treat time.”
Maine – If you are in the Bangor area, downtown holds a big event for trick-or-treating, according to the Maine Edge. Businesses open their doors for trick-or-treaters this year on Saturday, October 28th from 2 – 4 p.m. The town of Little City is also supposed to be a great area for trick-or-treating. And, according to the Kennebunk Post, the towns of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel are hosting a similar event, as local businesses are open to trick-or-treaters. This event is held on Halloween from 4 – 6 p.m. If these links do not satisfy your needs, then contact your town or Google your specific town name for information.
Maryland – Previously, it was reported that for those in the Annapolis area or Montgomery County, Patch states that trick-or-treating is roughly 5 – 8 p.m. TrickOrTreatTimes.com has a list of towns and their hours for trick-or-treating as well. Delmarva lists a bunch of towns with their trick-or-treating dates and times throughout Maryland, including areas such as Cambridge, Ocean City, and Greensboro. For those in the Baltimore area, there is a huge event called Trick-or-Treat Through the Square at Baltimore Square on Sunday, October 29th from 1 – 4 p.m. If you do not see your town, scroll down lower for an idea with trick-or-treating times from previous years.
Massachusetts – If you’re in Braintree, hours for trick-or-treating have been listed in the past as 4-8 p.m. FOX 25 Boston reports a ton of times on various locations in Massachusetts throughout the state, along with several towns and cities in New Hampshire as well. Click here to check out the list. Halloween New England lists events for the holiday, including trick-or-treating times. Events good for trick-or-treating activities include Not So Spooky Halloween at Edaville Family Theme Park on October 27th – 29th from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., the Newburyport Downtown Trick or Treat on October 27th from 4 – 5 p.m., and A Village Trick or Treat at Old Sturbridge Village on October 29th from 5 – 7:30 p.m.
Michigan – For those located in west Michigan, Wood TV has reported a list of trick-or-treating times. In addition to trick-or-treating, there are a host of Halloween events listed as well. Oakland County Moms has published a list of Oakland County trick-or-treating times and WNEM has compiled a list of trick-or-treating times across Michigan as well.
Minnesota – In Minnesota, each year the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, hosts the world’s largest trick-or-treating event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to Reference. For those who are still trick-or-treating door-to-door, counties vary in their curfew times. Even so, most trick-or-treating ends around 8 p.m. Check with your individual town for official times or just leave your porch light on when you want trick-or-treaters to pay you a visit.
Mississippi – WJTV has a list of towns with their times, but most of them are listed as having no set hours for Halloween trick-or-treating. So, it almost sounds like a very laid-back schedule when it comes to most individual counties. Trick-or-treating events are also listed. Truck or Treat will be held October 28th in Pearl, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Sheppard Stadium. The Pearl PD Women’s Auxillary is hosting a trick or treat event as well at the same time. Northpark Mall is also holding an event on October 28th that begins at 4 p.m., with trick-or-treating included. A Super Hero Trunk or Treat is in the Town of Terry and is on October 30th from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. In Jackson, Mississippi, there is a Trunk-or-Treat Harvest Carnival from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Jackson Police Department Training Academy .
Missouri – If you’re looking for trick-or-treating times in Missori, TrickOrTreatTimes.com has a list of towns, but not all are on the site. Trenton, Missouri is having a trick or treat night on October 30th at the historic Rock Barn from 6 – 7:30 p.m. The Chancellor’s Leadership Academy at Missouri University of Science and Technology is hosting a trunk or treat event on October 31st from 4 – 8 p.m. Your best bet for figuring out if your own area has official trick-or-treating times or not, would be to Google your individual county or town. You can also call your local administration or municipal building. Schools should have information on this as well.
Montana – For trick-or-treating in downtown Bozeman, MT, the hours in the past have been listed as 4 – 6 p.m. WQKX has times in a list of towns as well. Funtober has a list of Halloween and trick-or-treating events throughout Montana on their website. Click here to check them out. The events carry throughout the weekend and through Halloween, and they include Little Tykes Trick or Treat in Helena, as well as Bozeman Trick-or-Treating. Downtown Billings also has a big trick-or-treating event, which is held on Halloween from 12 – 5 p.m.
Nebraska – TrickOrTreatTimes has a small list of Nebraska towns with their designated trick-or-treating times for Monday. There are also many communities who do not have set times for going door-to-door. If the porch light is on, that’s a good sign that the house is welcoming trick-or-treaters. According to Outdoor Nebraska, there is a trunk or treat event at Windmill State Recreation Area on October 27th and another on October 28th at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park.
Nevada – For people living in Nevada who are looking up times for trick-or-treating, you probably see a lot of info on Las Vegas, but not everyone in Nevada is just located in Vegas. You can check out some times in varying towns here, but many places are very lax with scheduling official trick-or-treating times. Check with your local schools and municipal building for curfews. New to Reno reports that there is a Safe Trick or Treating event at the Nevada Humane Society on Tuesday, October 31st from 4 – 6:30 p.m. Reno has several trick-or-treating events throughout the weekend as well and some are at hotels. KTNV reports that Las Vegas is full of trick-or-treating events as well, like the CenturyLink Trunk or Treat event on October 27th from 6 – 10 p.m., Picasso and Wine and The Summit’s Safe Trick or Treat on October 29th, and a Halloween Candy Crawl at the Downtown Container Park neighborhood on October 31st.
New Hampshire – NH Magazine has a long list of trick-or-treating times and dates for towns throughout New Hampshire. In addition to trick-or-treating times, there are also several events throughout the state listed. Parenting NH also has a list of trick-or-treating times. Some of the trick-or-treating events that are going on for the holiday include Hallowesta in Claremont on October 31st, the Halloween Howl in Concord, the Tailgate Trick-or-Treat in Deerfield, the Downtown Trick-or-Treat: Spooktacular Costume Parade and Trunk-or-Treat in Derry, a Trunk or Treat in Groveton, Trick-or-treat Sweet Street in Jackson, Kingston Recreation Trunk or Treat, a Tailgate Trick or Treat in Langdon, the Milford Oval trick-or-treating, the Newbury Recreation Department Trunk or Treat, a trunk or treat event in Northumberland, Raymond’s Trunk or Treat event, and Tanger Outlets trick-or-treating in Tilton.
New Jersey – In New Jersey, times range anywhere from 2 – 10 p.m. ET in Franklin Lakes or 3 – 6 p.m. ET in Somerville or all day in Aberdeen on October 31st. NJ.com reports that, according to a candy analysis, New Jersey is number three in the country for trick-or-treating. New Mexico – If you are located in New Mexico, times for trick-or-treating are beginning anywhere from noon to 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. It’s best to check with your local administration building or even the police station. There may or may not be official hours in place for the night. At NMSU Carlsbad there is a big Trick or Treat event on October 30th, from 3 – 8 p.m., called the Trick or Treat and Fall Carnival.
New York – When it comes to Western New York, WIVB previously post a list of trick-or-treating hours across several counties from last year. If you’re looking for information on times in the Finger Lakes region, you can click here. If you live in New York City, Mommy Poppins lists all the best areas for trick-or-treating as well as some of the times that different block associations have designated for trick-or-treating.
North Carolina – TrickOrTreatTimes.com has a list of towns with official times from this year as well as years of the past. WITN has a huge list of towns and their trick-or-treating times as well. Many of the towns do not have specific hours. According to Southern Living, Winston, North Carolina is one of the best towns for trick-or-treating and there is a big event at the Old Salem Museums & Gardens on South Main Street.
North Dakota – It’s best to check with your local schools, police station and/or municipal building to see if there are designated trick-or-treating times in your area or a curfew. Many areas do not have specific hours in place. Valley News Live has reported a Halloween night event called BOOtiful Night: Trick-or-Treating at West Acres Mall from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Ohio – The Zainesville Times Recorder previously put together a time schedule for trick-or-treating in neighboring towns. For Columbus and Central Ohio, there is a huge list of towns and times via Mission To Save. The Toledo Blade has a list of times for trick-or-treating as well. Be sure to check with your local town to make sure the exact date on which trick-or-treating is taking place, along with special events that go on throughout the weekend.
Oklahoma – Metro Family Magazine lists activities and trick-or-treating events going on in the Oklahoma City area. Free events include Tractors & Treats at First Southern Baptist Church, Trick ORR Treat at the Farm at Orr Family Farm, Trick or Treat City at the Joe B. Barnes Regional Park, Trunk-or-Treat at Moore Vintage Charm, Trunk or Treat in the Park at Mitch Park, Trunk-or-Treat at Crown Heights Christian Church, Trunk-or-Treat at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Trunk-or-Treat at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Trunk-or-Treat at Crown Heights Christian Church, Trunk-or-Treat at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Trunk-or-Treat at New Covenant United Methodist Church, Trunk-or-Treat at Lake Overholser Church of the Nazarene, Trunk-or-Treat at the J.D. McCarty Center, Children’s Halloween Trick or Treat Fest at State Fair Park Centennial Building, Trick-or-Treat at Northpark Mall, Community Trunk-or-Treat at Mary Mahoney Memorial Health Center, Trunk-or-Treat at Edmond First Baptist Church, Trunk-or-Treat at Western Hills Fellowship Church of God, and Trunk-or-Treat at Western Hills Fellowship Church of God.
Oregon – When it comes to trick-or-treating official times per community, you should check with your local schools, police department and/or administration building. However, the Oregon Area Chamber of Commerce reports that trick-or-treating times will run from 5 – 8 p.m. on Halloween. On an interesting note, Pamplin Media reported that Reese’s Cups are the top candy for trick-or-treating this year.
Pennsylvania – When is trick-or-treating in your town? According to Penn Live, trick-or-treating will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Rhode Island – Click here for a list of Halloween and trick-or-treat events in Rhode Island. When it comes to specific times, not all areas have designated hours for trick-or-treating. These hours are usually set by the town council or board, so you can check with your local officials unless you aren’t phased by unspecified time schedules.
South Carolina – For those in the Charleston area, Event Brite has a list of trick-or-treating and Halloween events. In Charlotte, a trick-or-treating event is held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 28th at the Carole Hoefener Center. There are also several trunk-or-treat events listed. If you’re in the Greenville area, Kidding Around Greenville has a list of events going on for Halloween. In addition to regular trick-or-treating events, there are also festivals, which include the Halloween Hoopla, the Autumn Harvest at TD Market, and the Halloween Festival of Downtown Clemson.
South Dakota – The Sioux City Journal advises trick-or-treating hours of 6 – 8 p.m. on Halloween. However, the times do vary among towns and counties. The South Dakota Safety Council has a list of tips for trick-or-treating.
Tennessee – There aren’t too many towns and times listed for this year yet on TrickOrTreatTimes.com, but if you scroll down on their page, there are lists from previous years to give you an idea in your town or nearby areas. If you are looking in the Nashville area, Nashville Fun for Families has a list of events. Event Brite has a list of Knoxville area events as well. And, for those interested in the Trunk or Treat experience, Memphis has a long list of events, which you can read when you click here.
Texas – If you are in the Dallas or Fort Worth area, Autos of Dallas states: Typically, homes that hand out goodies should expect kids to knock around sundown, which will be around 6:40 p.m. in Dallas. A few hours later – around 9 p.m. – is when most of the festivities will die down, and it should be completely finished by 9:30 p.m. If you’re handing out candy/other fun items and don’t want trick-or-treaters knocking after a certain time, it’s recommended that you turn off your light (this signifies your home is no longer participating). Utah – Taste Fully Frugal previously listed a bunch of the best locations to go trick-or-treating in Utah. SLC Moms has a list of things to do up until Halloween on its website and you can check them out by clicking here. Vermont – For information on Halloween events in Vermont, you can click here. It’s also good to check with your local administration building or even the police station for details on your community’s trick-or-treating regulations. There may or may not be official hours in place for the night. When it comes to trick-or-treating events in Vermont, they include but are not limited to the Shelburne Museum Trick-or-Treating Haunted Happenings, Trick or Treat Street in Burlington, and Halloween Tricks and Treats at Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium.
Virginia – If you are in the Virginia, Patch previously reported that trick-or-treating generally starts at dusk and runs until 9 p.m. However, it varies from each town to town. Check with your neighbors and local police department to see if there’s an official time schedule set. If you are in the Fairfax, Arlington, Washington or Bethesda area (in addition to other areas), Event Brite has a list of trick-or-treating and Halloween events.
Washington – When it comes to the best trick-or-treating spots in and near Seattle, Red Tricycle reports events including Hilloween at Capitol Hill, Trick-or-Treat on the Waterfront, Trick-or-Treating in the Village – Magnolia, Admiral District Trick-or-Treating, Trick-or-Treat on the Ave., Trick-or-Treat at University Village, Trick-or-Treat in Fremont, Northgate Mall Halloween Boo Bash & Trick-or-Treating, Halloween Trick-or-Treat Night in Edmonds, Trick-or-Treat on the Ridge, Halloween Party & Trick ‘r Treat – Factoria, Mall-O-Ween at Crossroads, Halloween at Kent Station, and the Kidx Witch Way to Candy Event in Auburn.
West Virginia – For those in southern West Virginia, you can check out trick-or-treating times by clicking here. The events are separated by county. Funtober also has a list of activities and events for trick-or-treating in West Virginia and you can click here to check it out. If you are in the area of Charleston, West Virginia, Trick or Treat for the City of Charleston will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. This is a good guideline for other areas. Trick-or-treating after 8 p.m. is generally frowned upon.
Wisconsin – For a full list of trick-or-treating times throughout the state, click here on Haunted Wisconsin. Cities, towns and villages are all listed and the site continues to be updated. Dates and times are listed for each. Several events and specific town regulations are listed for certain areas as well.
Wyoming – Your best bet for figuring out if your area has official trick-or-treating times or not, would be to Google your individual county or town. You can also call your local administration or municipal building. Schools should have information on this as well. King FM has listed all the best neighborhoods in Wyoming for trick-or-treating this year and they include The Pointe in Cheyenne, Powder Horn Golf Community in Sheridan and several others.
