‘Justice League’: Meet the Cast of DC’s New Movie

Getty "Justice League" cast poses at the film debut.

Now that Justice League is finally releasing in theaters, you might be wondering who plays in the movie. The film earned lukewarm reviews from critics and will be piling up the box office dollars as soon as showings start. The film is headlined by a returning Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, but they have a few new faces to join them in the D.C. Extended Universe.

Justice League was directed by Zack Snyder with a screenplay written by Joss Whedon and Chris Terrio. It is the 5th installment in the DCEU. The film premieres at 7 p.m. on November 16 and has a runtime of just 119 minutes.

The film tells the story of the Justice League, a band of superheroes put together by Batman to save the planet. After the death of Superman in Batman v. Superman, the heroes must band together in order to protect Earth from Steppenwolf, a new villain.

Read below to meet the cast of Justice League.

Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot makes her third appearance as Wonder Woman in the new flick. Gadot was widely praised for her performance as Wonder Woman in the stand-alone film, and reviews for Justice League have mostly followed suit with that, saying that Gadot’s Wonder Woman is one of the best things in the current DCEU.

Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman

Ben Affleck returns to the big screen as Batman again. Affleck has played the role of Batman in the DCEU since his first appearance in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. In Justice League, Batman must act as a leader in order to keep the villain Steppenwolf from taking over the planet in light of Superman’s death in his most recent film.

Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman

Henry Cavill has been a part of the DCEU since appearing in Man of Steel in 2013. Cavill’s Superman died in Batman v. Superman, but we have it on good authority that the actor plays a huge role in the Justice League.

Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash

A relative newcomer to the crew, Ezra Miller, known for his appearance in Perks of Being a Wallflower, joins as Barry Allen (The Flash). Critics said that Miller provides some much-needed comic relief to the Justice League gang. He plays a Central City university student who can move at superhuman speeds. It’s likely that his powers won’t be completely developed yet in this new installment, but the Flash gets a standalone movie in 2018, so we’ll know even more about the character then.

Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry / Aquaman

Aquaman is also new to the current iteration of the DCEU. The character is played by Jason Momoa, known for his time in the HBO hit series Game of Thrones. Aquaman is the heir to the throne of the undersea nation of Atlantis. He also has superhuman abilities.

Ray Fisher as Victor Stone / Cyborg

The former college athlete turned cyborg is played by Ray Fisher. Fisher is known for being a stage actor and his role in the comedy The Good, the Bad and the Confused. Justice League will be his first big-screen debut. Victor Stone (Cyborg) was cybernetically reconstructed after a nearly fatal car accident, leaving him with the powers to manipulate technology and turn his arms into cannons. He’s a new addition to the DCEU for Justice League.

Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf

Ciaran Hinds is an Irish film, television and stage actor known for appearing in films like There Will Be Blood, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Spy Frozen. Hinds plays Steppenwolf, the alien military officer from Apokolips who leads an army trying to find the three “Mother Boxes” held on Earth. Steppenwolf is portrayed through motion capture.

Amy Adams as Lois Lane

Amy Adams, who’s known for many films including Disney’s Enchanted and Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, returns to the DCEU to play Clark Kent’s girlfriend, Lois Lane. Lois Lane is an award-winning journalist for The Daily Planet who is also mourning the death of her boyfriend.
