Konami Pre-E3 Press Conference: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Konami recently conducted its pre-E3 video press conference. Plenty of news updates on the video game publisher’s companies upcoming titles were unveiled during this streaming event, so we gathered all the important details for you to see. 1. Dance Dance Revolution is Heading to School

Konami made sure to present its newest iteration in the Dance Dance Revolution franchise – Dance Dance Revolution Classroom Edition. This version of the game was developed for the sole purpose of combating childhood obesity and get schoolchildren in shape across the nation.

2. Brand New Mobile Were on Display

Konami’s social gaming studio popped up on the press conference to talk about their latest mobile products – MLB Dream Nine, MLB Live Challenge and Puzzle Changers. Konami’s independent developer program announced that they acquired Kung Fu Factory (Domo Jump) for their next slate of in-development mobile games. A new studio called OCDS (Orange County Development Studio) is also working on new social casino apps- Slot Revolution: A Hero’s Journey and Casino League: Texas Hold ‘Em.


3. PES 2014 Was Announced

The next installment in the Pro Evolution Soccer series was shown – PES 2014. This edition of the soccer gaming franchise is coming with a new addition – the Fox Engine. This game engine will offer more fluid gameplay animations for the onscreen players. Also, the team morale for the game’s many soccer clubs will be affected by changing home/away conditions. This also plays a part in how much your player’s are motivated and their on-field abilities.


4. Kiefer Sutherland is Voicing Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 5

The former voice of Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake (David Hayter) is being replaced by 24’s Kiefer Sutherland. Sutherland will now be handling the voice acting and facial capture duties for Solid Snake for the fifth main game in the series. Solid Snake is now conducting his espionage missions at the age of 49, which makes sense considering the actor who’s playing/voicing him. MGS 5 will take place in the year 1984 for this entry. Sutherland had this to say about his new role:

It’s an honor to be able to play this character. [Snake] has an unbelievable legacy. I’m not a gamer and I even knew about this game. I was certainly keenly aware of the legacy of [Metal Gear] and the success of these games.

Hideo Kojima, the creator behind the series, also offered some comments on this new change for his series’ lead character:

It’s different from anything we’ve done before. I felt that he was the perfect fit, in terms of age and performance.


5. Castlevania: Lord of Shadow 2 Will Be “Dark” And More “Cruel”

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 was shown, and this time a bit more of the game’s backstory and theme were revealed. This sequel is quoted being more “dark” and “cruel.” Also, the game will support free roaming without the need for loading and feature a free roaming camera. Patrick Stewart narrated the new trailer, which showed a modern day setting with Dracula’s castle looming in the background. The game will be arriving on the PS3 and Xbox 360 this Winter.
