Nintendo E3 2014 Digital Event: Top 10 Facts You Need to Know

Nintendo E3 2014

Nintendo took another route in serving its fans news of upcoming Wii U and 3DS software – a livestream presentation of their “Digital Event.” A lot of announcements were made and a lot of memorable gaming gems were shown off. Here are all the moments you’ll be talking about all wee from Nintendo’s E3 2014 digital media presentation.

1. The Beginning Portion Was Full of Hilarity and Epic Fighting

Super Smash Bros Mii

Nintendo’s “Digital Event” started off with a funny skit that was reminiscent of a Robot Chicken skit. Afterwards, an extremely hype face-off between two of Nintendo’s most familiar bigwigs (Reggie Fils-Aime and Satoru Iwata) began (the fight scenes shown were pretty dope). Then, Super Smash Bros. hit the screen and showed both men fighting each other as Mii characters. The new line of Nintendo avatars were shown through a Mario figure getting implanted into the game just by placing it onto the Wii U touchpad. The Mii’s got shown next as they displayed their interesting repertoire of powerful attacks. Mii’s come in tree varieties – Mii Brawlers, Miff Swordfighters and Mii Gunners. Each player comes with their own set of moves, plus anyone can be created.

The 3DS version of the game is almost near development completion, but it has been delayed into its new release date – October 3, 2014. A trailer showing what’s been completed on the game thus far was shown afterwards. A new character was also added to the official roster – Princess Palutena from Kid Icarus. Her long line of magical moves and staff attacks all looked awesome in action.

2. The Physical Amiibo Figurines Were Shown

The new line of Nintendo Amiibo figurines were given the spotlight next. A special chip is embedded in the figure, which the Wii U gamepad recognizes. The character can then swap info with the gamepad and vice versa. The figure has the option to evolve as you use it in Super Smash Bros. Wii U. Both the Amiibo figurines and the new game are still slated to arrive this Holiday season. Amiibo play is currently being prepared for several new games and even Mario Kart 8.

3. Yoshi’s Woolly World Was Up Next

Yoshi's Wooly World

Yoshi’s Woolly World, a game that adopts the visual style of Kirby’s Epic Yarn, was detailed next. The exciting gameplay showed an even cuter version of Yoshi as he explored levels, shot at enemies with eggs and used all the yarn around him. A 2-player co-op mode has officially been added to the game. Both Yoshi’s can swallow each other up and use the other player to attack foes and shoot them up to higher distances.

4. Toad’s New Game, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

Toad from the Super Mario Bros. series was seen traversing around puzzle laden levels in a trailer for his upcoming Wii U game, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Toad could be seen picking up coins, discovering pathways and encountering massive monsters.

5. The New Legend of Zelda Got Its Debut

The Legend of Zelda Wii U

The Legend of Zelda series was up next as far as new gameplay details and development info was concerned. A quick screenshot for the new world of Zelda on the Wii U was propped on the screen. It showed how a player can go anywhere they see fit due to the wide open, expansive environments. Once the gameplay began, Link rode his horse as he did battle with an over sized beast. This next game in the series is arriving in 2015.
