‘Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection’: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

So while it may be true that PS4’s exclusives lineup for the rest of the year is slim, there’s still one game worth mentioning. Well technically, THREE games worth mentioning.

One of gaming’s finest development houses (Naughty Dog) is currently putting together Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. That sequel’s release has been pushed back to 2016, which is a disappointment for Nathan Drake’s biggest fans. In order to please Uncharted’s fanbase, Naughty Dog has decided to remaster the titles that lead up to its upcoming sequel. If you’ve never experienced Nathan Drake’s harsh adventures or want to play them all over again, this collection is a must-buy.

Here’s every important factoid you need to know about Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

1. This Collection Includes Nathan Drake’s 1st Three PS3 Adventures

This remastered collection features the single-player campaigns for Nathan Drake’s 1st three games – Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception. Gamers can revisit or explore Nathan Drake’s adventures for the 1st time to get prepared for his upcoming PS4 release. Each of these games have received an uplift in the visuals department.

Naughty Dog has retooled each game to run at 60 FPS and a beautiful 1080P resolution. Sadly though, the multiplayer components from the 2nd and 3rd games within this compilation won’t be included. You can actually download a demo for this game now, which lets you play a portion of Uncharted 2.

A couple of fresh gameplay modes will be provided for all types of players. Explore Mode fine tunes the game’s difficulty for beginners by reducing the toughness of its combat sections. Speed Run Mode times your progress through specific sections of the game. You’ll be able to compare your completion times with your online friends afterwards.

If you manage to complete the incredibly hard Crushing Difficulty Mode of any game, you’ll be able to unlock the even harder Brutal Difficulty Mode. And finally, you’ll be able to play through each single-player campaign with one of over 65 different character skins.

2. Two Specific Additions Will Come Along With This Remastered Release

Two new additions will be present for players looking for a new challenge and for those who like to show off the finer points of their gameplay. A set of new PSN trophies have been created exclusively for this collection, plus three platinum trophies for each game can be unlocked.

And secondly, a cool Photo Mode will be a part of the game. Just like the feature that was utilized in the remastered PS4 version of God of War 3, you’ll get to pause the gameplay and use different graphical filters to create the perfect screenshots. You’ll then be able to share your pics directly from your PS4 system.

3. Nathan Drake Only Portable Adventure Won’t Be a Part of This Collection

While this compilation features the 1st three games from Nathan Drake’s worldwide journey, it does exclude his PlayStation Vita title – Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer recently spoke at the EGX 2015 gaming expo and gave his studio’s reasoning for leaving it out:

It was definitely under consideration, because we were trying to see how we could collect all of the Uncharted games. But when we went back and looked at what we were trying to do with the Nathan Drake Collection, we realized that those three games – the trilogy – actually provided a particular narrative arc that led into Uncharted 4. We wanted to keep that as a holistic collection for that reason, and Golden Abyss kind of lives a little bit outside of that.
