‘Street Fighter V’: Full Roster Breakdown From Associate Producer Peter Rosas

"In Street Fighter V, we wanted Ryu to look as if he’s been through a few fights. That’s why you’ll notice his gloves are a little worn around the top of the fist and that his clothing looks a little more tattered than before. We wanted his moves to feel powerful, which is why they’re a tad slower this time around. Otherwise, Ryu has the most easily recognizable set of special attacks in Street Fighter (the Hadoken and Shoryuken) so we made sure to not stray far from and what our fans expect and what makes him so iconic. Ryu is synonymous with Street Fighter. If he wasn’t included, the game just wouldn’t feel like a Street Fighter game!"
