‘CoroCoro’ Leak Shows New ‘Pokémon,’ Alolan Forms, and Villains from ‘Sun’ and ‘Moon’

New Pokemon List

A leak of the next issue of Japanese magazine CoroCoro may call into question the validity of an earlier leak of the entire Alolan Pokédex.

CoroCoro is famous for being the first source of new Pokémon news, which is leaked as images of the upcoming issue are posted online prior to publication, as is the case here. Pokémon fan site Seribii has been working on translating the leaked pages, and thanks to them, we know the name of some new Pokémon, information about some of the new Alolan forms, and the name of the Alola region’s evil team.

The little sandcastle-looking creature is apparently called Sunabaa, while the bigger one (presumably its evolved form) is Shirodesuna. They are Ghost/Ground type. The pre-evolved form of Bewear is also pictured and is known as Nuikoguma. Also pictured is the Water-type Yowashi, which seems to possess the never-before-seen ability to transform from its Single Form into a larger fish, or School Form, without actually evolving.

None of these names appear anywhere in the alleged Pokédex leak, and as CoroCoro is a reliable source, that means it was most likely false. Which is not entirely surprising; although it looked believable, the origins were dubious at best.

CoroCoro also confirms that next month’s issue will contain a poster of the popular puppy Pokémon Rockruff‘s secret evolution.

Also revealed are the Alolan forms of Meowth and Marowak. Alolan Meowth is Dark-type and developed as a result of being bred by the Alolan royal family, while Alolan Marowak is Fire/Ghost-type and developed in order to resist its natural predators.

The pictures also give us a glimpse of the newest evil team to join the ranks of Pokémon villains, known as Team Skull. The boss’s name is Guzma and the girl pictured is named Plumeri. Given the name of the team and the game’s island locale, it’s highly possible we could be seeing a team of Pokémon pirates.

Pokémon Sun and Moon are scheduled to release for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS on November 8th, with some speculation as to whether they will later release for the upcoming Nintendo NX as well.
