When exploring the vastness of space, it can be easy to die or succumb to the harsh conditions of certain planets. On top of this, you can easily run out of inventory space in No Man’s Sky, making hauling a bunch of minerals around an absolute chore. Thankfully, you can locate upgrades to your Exosuit that will not only add more inventory space but give you enhancements. Though finding these upgrades in No Man’s Sky can be difficult if you don’t know what to look for, so it’s important to always keep your eyes open when exploring.
One of the first things you will want to look for are any settlements or inorganic structures that dot a planet’s surface as these are normally the most common area to find suit upgrades. When flying around a planet try to head towards the big green circles with question marks in them, as these are points of interests you’ll want to discover. You’ll be looking for structures that resemble escape pods or small landing ships that only have one way into them. These small structures will be facing upwards and are slightly elevated off the ground, so they’re easy to spot from a space ship.
Once you land, make your way over to them and step inside of the small metal pod. You’ll see a glowing blue hologram of your suit, so just move your cursor over top and hold the interact button down. Once you do this, the game will offer up a suit upgrade and all you’ll have to do is hit “Accept” for it to be put in place. Normally, these upgrades will come with a new enhancement such as longer sprint time or better life support systems, which can ease the pain of exploring a planet.
The other method is just by interacting with the various alien races and hoping you pick the right dialogue prompt so they offer you an upgrade. However, these are rarer and most of the time the aliens will offer Multi-Tool enhancements over Exosuit upgrades. Just make sure to save before interacting with an alien just in case you select the wrong dialogue option
Upgrading your suit is an important part of surviving in No Man’s Sky, so make sure you are always looking out for these pod-like structures. If you see one, make sure to either head over to it or note down where it’s located. The last thing you want is to be stuck out in the middle of a frozen wasteland with no thermal Exosuit upgrades.
