How far do you need to walk your Pokemon Buddy to evolve it? (Niantic)

Pokemon Go trainers are enjoying walking their Buddy and collecting candy, but just how far do you have to walk a Pokemon before you can evolve it if you are only using Buddy candy?

Here’s what you need to know.

The Twitter account and third-party app PokeWhereGo created the following chart to help you determine evolution times from walking your Buddy:

The above chart may be a little confusing to some, because it calculates in the total distance needed to evolve a Pokemon to its final evolution. To make things a little simpler, we’re providing a chart below that shows how far you need to walk your Pokemon in order to earn enough candy to evolve it to its very next evolution, according to information provided from the game, Reddit’s The Silph Road, and Gamespot. This only includes calculations for getting one candy per your Buddy’s required set of kilometers. It does not include calculations for random extra candies that you might get while walking your Buddy. The Pokemon are listed in alphabetical order below, next to the number of kilometers you’ll need to walk in order to earn enough candy to evolve them to their next level:

Magikarp has the longest distance to achieve the next evolution, requiring 400 km walked in order to find enough candy to evolve him. As Redditor Wildone32898 discovered, Magikarp would have to be walked from New York City to Washington D.C. in order to gain enough candy for an evolution.
