New Pokemon have been added to ‘Pokemon Go.’ (Niantic)
The most significant Pokemon Go update ever has just been released.
In Version 1.27.2 for iOS and Version 0.57.2 for Android, over 80 generation two Pokemon have been added to the game. Players now have access to all of the second generation Pokemon other than the baby Pokemon that were already released in December and not counting legendaries.
In addition, a new Poke Ball and Berry selection carousel has been added to the game. Basically, when you go to catch a Pokemon, you can now easily select a Berry or a special type of Poke Ball to use, rather than having to navigate into the menu to find an item.
There are also two entirely new types of berries available: Nanab Berries, which slow a Pokemon’s movement, and Pinap Berries, which doubles the amount of candy you’ll receive from catching a Pokemon. Both are available through Poke Stops.
That’s still not all. There are also new encounter mechanics, new avatar accessory options, a new night-mode map option, new encounter music, gender-specific Pokemon, and some changes to the Apple Watch app connection stability. Also, bonus candies will be rewarded for catching evolved Pokemon.
The generation two Pokemon were announced earlier this week. It was thought that these Pokemon would be released slowly over a period of weeks if not months, but instead, Niantic has decided to put all of them into the game at once, potentially reigniting interest in a game that had received few significant updates in recent months.
