If you’re having difficulty logging on to Pokemon Go right now, it’s not just you. The release of the second generation of Pokemon has brought a massive number of players back into the game and has caused the app’s servers to become highly unstable.

The February 16th Pokemon Go update featuring over 80 all new Pokemon and several new features was released just about an hour ago, but since then, many players have been unable to log onto the game at all. Some of them get the “fail to log in” message, while others have their progress bar suddenly stop during the loading screen.

And among those who are able to log in at all, the game is still quite difficult to play right now, with tons of lag and unusually slow loading times.

Some players have also been experiencing glitches that seem to be a direct result of the server issues, including receiving an error message when trying to transfer a Pokemon, with the Pokemon just completely disappearing after that message goes away.

This update is by far the most significant event to occur in Pokemon Go since its launch in July 2016, and so it’s natural to expert the servers to experience issues as hundreds of thousands of players flood back into the game who have not played in months.

On Twitter, the official Pokemon Go account quickly responded to reports of server issues, writing, “We’re currently seeing an incredible number of Trainers logging in. Thanks for bearing with us as we address latency issues!”
