Season 9 of Diablo 3 ends March 17 and all leaderboards for seasonal characters will be wiped.

Blizzard posted on a blog post detailing what the end of seasons mean: all leaderboards being wiped, characters transitioning to non-seasonal characters, paragon levels carrying over, etc. but the most important thing is this means seasons are coming to consoles.

Blizzard announced at Blizzcon Season 10 will be the debut of seasons on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Seasons are way for the game to remain fresh as a new season encourages you to reroll a new hero and compete against other players pushing through Greater Rifts and reaching the top of the leaderboards.

The seasons will usually last a few months so you have plenty of time to jump in if you don’t start day one.

Players race to level 70 and complete seasonal objectives to get a set of armor for their class. Once that is done, players will create the optimal build for their character and go through rifts as fast as possible to see their name at the top of the leaderboard.

Before seasons come to consoles, Blizzard will have to do something about the widespread hacking problem still plaguing the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game.
