New ‘Breath of the Wild’ Patch Removes Framerate Issues

For a game that received as much praise as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it still had some glaring weaknesses, most noticeably the drop in framerate in some areas of the game. The patch notes say the update was done to make for a “more pleasant gaming experience” so it’s likely the framerate was targeted. This update, dubbed update 1.1.1, is available on both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U.

Digital Foundry found in their test of the game that the framerate was not as smooth docked as it was while handheld. Nintendo appears to have fixed that problem as many users on Reddit are reporting the gameplay is much smoother now in Korok Village, one of the problem areas.
