A new Pokemon Go update has just been released. What’s new in the latest version of the game?

Version 0.61.0 for Android, and Version 1.31.0 for iOS, was announced on Thursday evening via Niantic’s website. According to the patch notes, this update adds Traditional Chinese language support to the game.

In addition, the notes say that the latest version has updated the Pokémon collection screen scroll bar.

Finally, today’s update will feature “various bug fixes.” Typically when Niantic uses language like this in their patch notes, it means they have fixed a handful of small things that were affecting some players but that were not big enough to be worth going into detail about.

One of those is the date listed on eggs. Recently, players have been experiencing a bug in which the game shows every egg as having been collected on the same date. Now, the game accurately displays which date you got the egg on.

And although this is not a bug fix, Niantic has added in a new loading screen to the game. The old one had shown a bunch of fireworks going off; now there’s a new one which shows a player looking up at Steelix.

This is the first time the game has been updated for both iOS and Android in over two weeks, with the previous update coming on March 21st.

When players sift through the code of these updates, they often find hints about what Niantic is planning to release in the future. This, for example, is how dedicated fans discovered that Niantic was planning a “buddy” system weeks before they officially announced it.

Fans have done the same with this update, and while there’s no major secret hidden within, there are a few interesting tidbits. According to The Silph Road, the update mentions some sort of passcode and a “redeem” function for it. The Silph Road also notes that there were some major performance upgrades this time around. Unfortunately, there are no references to Easter in the update, so it’s unclear if an Easter event will be released next week or not.
