The Magikarp Song Is the Ultimate Tribute to the “Pity Pokemon”

The Official Pokemon YouTube Channel just released a music video featuring the ever popular and ever useless Magikarp.

The song was released in July of 2016 with it’s own website and everything but now it’s been fully translated and dubbed in English. This follows the release of The Slowpoke song, a reggae tribute to the world’s laziest pokemon.

The Magikarp Song laments the uselessness of the titular pokemon and how pointless it’s existence is. The singer wonders why “The Pity Pokemon” has survived for all these years and why it’s so common. He also wonders if it was strong back in ancient times but quickly dismisses the notion. He also laments how long it takes for Magikarp to evolve into the much stronger Gyarados. The song even makes fun of how some NCPs in the Pokemon games sell Magikarp to you but don’t offer refunds. But despite all that, the singer still adores the pokemon so much that he’ll have a pokemon team of six magikarp.

Beloved Pokemon, that’s you, Magikarp. / Somehow you’ve turned weakness into a kind of art.

Cheers to Magikarp. May they continue to inspire trainers for years to come.
