You can now Mega Evolve four more Pokemon thanks to a free code on the official Pokemon website. A free code will get you four new Mega Stones which will be used to Mega Evolve Pidgeot, Steelix, Heracross and Houndoom during battle.
Unfortunately, none of these Pokemon are available in the wild in Pokemon Sun and Moon so you’ll have to take advantage of the Pokemon Bank.
You have to follow these steps to get your Mega Stones, as laid out on the website:
- Select Mystery Gift on the main menu
- Select Receive Gift
- Select Get with Code/Password, then Yes, and then Yes again to connect to the Internet.
- Enter your password (AZUL)
- Watch as you receive the Mega Stones.
- Speak to the deliveryman in any Pokemon Center to pick up the Mega Stones.
- Be sure to save your game.
Starting May 15, you will be able to head to GameStop to pick up Lycanroc (Midnight Form) for free using the same steps listed above. The event will run until June 5 or while supplies so make sure to head to your local GameStop as soon as you can. Although Lycanroc can be captured in the game, this will be an easy way to pick up the life orb he is carrying.
Recently, there have been rumors floating around regarding the third title in the Pokemon Sun and Moon generation called Pokemon Stars. The game is said to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive despite the Sun and Moon being 3DS exclusives. Japan is launching a line of merchandise called “Look Upon the Stars” that has just stoked the rumor bonfire even more. If this does end up being real, Pokemon Stars would be the first mainline Pokemon title to come to a Nintendo home console.
In other Pokemon news today, the official YouTube channel released a music video for everyone’s favorite splashing Pokemon: Magikarp. The Magikarp Song laments the uselessness of the titular Pokemon and how pointless its existence is. It is quite amusing if you get the chance to check out.
