‘The Sims Mobile’ Has Been Announced

The long-running Sims franchise is making its way to mobile phones soon.

EA and Maxis have announced the The Sims Mobile, a new game that will bring the game we all know from PC onto your mobile phone. It features many of the same features as you’d see on PC such as the ability to decorate your own rooms and start a family. The itself is inspired by The Sims 4 Legacy Challenge, which encourages players to build a successful multi-generational family, while unlocking and collecting Heirlooms along the way. As the players progress, the Heirlooms will offer different gameplay benefits that will help your Sim achieve their Life Goal throughout the game.

In The Sims Mobile, interaction with your real-life friends is offered and encouraged. Your Sims can host and attend parties, develop relationships as best friends, nemeses, soul mates, and more with your real-life friends’ Sims, and share in big moments together in the game.

This isn’t the first time The Sims series has tested the mobile and free-to-play market. in 2011, The Sims Freeplay launched on iOS before expanding to other mobile platforms, and we also had The Sims Social on Facebook. The Sims Social ended up folding after being on the market for two years but you are still able to download The Sims Freeplay on your smartphone. We don’t know if The Sims Mobile will end up using a cooldown system that many other phone games use to limit your playing time. No word on micro-transactions has been announced as of yet.

The Sims 4, despite a lukewarm reception, was the best selling PC game of 2014 and 2015 and EA announced The Sims 4 saw its monthly active players increase 33 percent year-over-year. The Sims 4 has been out for two and a half years now so it’s encouraging to still see it doing well. To date, it has received seven DLC packs along with several updates based around fan feedback.

The Sims Mobile is now available on iOS and Android devices as a free download in Brazil, with other regions to follow. Meanwhile, Sims fans and mobile gamers worldwide can look forward to its official launch coming soon. Make sure to check out the official trailer below.
