‘Destiny 2’: Here’s When the Beta Officially Starts On Consoles

With almost all of the E3 conferences officially over, developer Bungie decided to drop some bombs about their newest title Destiny 2. This highly anticipated FPS/MMO hybrid has already obtained a massive following due to the insane success of the original Destiny. Now with the second installment set to release on consoles September 6, players are eagerly waiting their chance to step into their Guardian’s shoes once more.

In a blog post posted on the official Activision website, Destiny 2’s beta will begin next month, but it comes with a catch. If you are looking to play as soon as possible you’ll need to pre-order any version of Destiny 2, as this will allow you into the beta early on July 18 at 10:00 a.m. PST / 1:00 p.m. EST if you are a PlayStation user. For those who pre-order on Xbox, the beta release date is July 19 at 10:00 a.m. PST / 1:00 p.m. EST. However, if you are not pre-ordering Destiny 2 at all, you will still get a chance to participate in the beta starting July 21 at 10:00 a.m. PST / 1:00 p.m. EST for both consoles. This beta will end at 9:00 p.m. PST / 12:00 a.m. EST on July 23.

PC users fear not because Bungie is planning a separate beta for you sometime in August, however, details have not been revealed yet. To recap here are the Destiny  2 beta start times:

  • July 18 – 10:00 a.m. PST / 1:00 p.m. EST (Pre-order/PlayStation 4 Version)
  • July 19 – 10:00 a.m. PST / 1:00 p.m. EST (Pre-order/Xbox One Version)
  • July 21 – 10:00 a.m. PST / 1:00 p.m. EST (No Pre-order/Both Consoles)
  • July 23 – 9:00 p.m. PST / 12:00 a.m. EST (Beta Ends)
  • August – PC Beta Version

We also learned that the PlayStation 4 version will feature exclusive content such as an exotic sniper rifle, Strike mission, Crucible map, armor, and a spaceship. The release date for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions was moved up to September 6, with the PC version releasing on October 24 via Battle.net.
