Today, Injustice 2 players got a chance to get a more in-depth look at the notorious anti-hero Red Hood. Revealed during the Watchtower live stream earlier today, this hero focuses around zoning his foes via a variety of different tools. While we weren’t shown everything in his kit, it’s very clear just how powerful this fighter can be in the hands of a master. There was also additional information revealed on some upcoming additions as well as info regarding the two other DLC heroes, Starfire and Sub-Zero.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Injustice 2 Red Hood Livestream:
1. Red Hood Uses Guns, Throwing Stars, Grenades, and Mines
The main crux of the Red Hood’s Special Moves is his dual pistols, landmines, grenades, and his throwing weapon known as Gotham Stars. While the former is mainly used to disengage from combos or end them, it’s the latter that make up the majority of his projectile attacks. These stars can be thrown either straight on or up in the air to stop people from jumping in for an attack. This is also useful for when you wall bounce opponents, as the Gotham Stars can be a nice follow-up attack to catch them in the air.
Red Hood can also use mines, which can be thrown at long, mid, and close range depending on the command. When an enemy steps on this item they will explode, causing damage and launching your foe up into the air. These are perfect combo starters as it leaves your opponent helpless and lets you pour on the damage. Grenades also pop up opponents if they connect, allowing you to start a powerful string of attacks.
2. Red Hood’s Character Power is Called Going Ballistic
Character Powers are special abilities tied to each hero and villain in Injustice 2 that give them unique approach options that no other character possess. Red Hood’s is a combat stance called Going Ballistic and it allows him to electrify the butts of his guns, turning them into pseudo tasers. Once in the Going Ballistic stance, players can perform a powerful string of attacks that can end either in a high attack, mid attack, or throw. This power is also fantastic for forcing opponents back if they are blocking and Red Hood can even fire his guns when he switches out of Going Ballistic.
3. His Style is Based Around High-Risk vs. High Reward
During the demonstration, players were able to see just how complex and powerful this fighter can be in the right hands. Many of his strings can deal some serious damage, however, if players do not commit to these attacks it will leave him wide open. Red Hood is a powerful mid-range fighter that has some serious range on many of his normal moves, allowing for him to start combos while not being point blank with a foe. He also has a strong dive move that can be meter burned to finish with a hail of bullet. Red Hood’s wake up attack lets him dive
He also has a strong dive move that can be meter burned to finish with a hail of bullet. Red Hood’s wake up attack lets him dive backward a considerable distance, but the catch is this does zero damage unless you meter burn it. This is a high mobility character that can not only zone opponents, but juggle them in the air easily via his equipment.
4. Red Hood Is Set to Release Tuesday, June 13 for Certain Players
If you are looking to pick up Red Hood as soon as possible then you will need to either own the Deluxe Edition, Ultimate Edition, or Fighter Pack 1. Those who possess one of these items will be able to play as the Red Hood June 13, however, if you haven’t purchased any of these items then you’ll have to wait another week. Thankfully, there will be a Multiverse Event next week allowing players to try him out and see if he is worth purchasing. There was no word on what he will cost individually, but you can still grab Fighter Pack 1 for $19.99. This includes the other two DLC characters, Starfire and Sub-Zero, who have yet to be fully detailed.
5. Injustice 2 Will Recieve Updated Multiverse Rewards
Finally, during the Watchtower stream it was revealed that there will be some changes to the Multiverse reward system for those looking to grab more Skins and Abilities. The former are various color pallets that can give your fighter a different look or completely change their design such as the Mr. Freeze skin for Captain Cold. Abilities on the other hand directly affect the fighter they’re tied to, as they add passive buffs or completely new powers like Scarecrow’s swarm of insects.
Previously, earning these took an insane amount of time, but NetherRealm Studios are adding random Multiverse events you can buy into with credits. These are one fight matches that reward victorious players with a random ability or shader depending on the event. There was no release date revealed for this feature, but they assured that it was coming to Injustice 2 soon.
