Microsoft Press Conference E3 2017: All the Games Revealed

Xbox One E3 2017 Microsoft

Since information is limited on a lot of the newer, smaller titles released, we will only go into detail about games that feature lengthier presentations. Here are all the games that appeared during Microsoft’s 2017 E3 press conference:

Forza Motorsport 7

The first titled revealed this evening was Forza Motorsport 7 which is a high-octane driving game that runs at native 4k and 60 frames-per-second. This title features dynamic weather and the title was promoted to be more “epic” with many of the racetracks sporting huge vistas. Forza Motorsport 7 will sport over 700 cars that players can own and drive.

Metro Exodus

One big surprise during this conference was the reveal of a new Metro title that showcased the protagonist being chased by a massive rat. The game itself looked fantastic and sported that famous claustrophobic feel the series is wildly known for. Much of the gameplay consisted of stealth and action focused combat that revolved around a powerful crossbow. We got a glimpse at a massive mutant bear and some mechanics like zip lining, and a large train that ran across the bomb blasted environment.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

The new Assassin Creed title should come as no surprise since it suffered a number of leaks and teases leading up to this reveal. What’s interesting is the trailer mentions that these people are the first to call themselves assassins, which means this will act as an origin story for the entire game. We also get a glimpse of a massive snake that feels ripped right out Resident Evil. You player as an “Egyptian Sheriff”, who is one of the founders of the Brotherhood. The game will run in 4K which looked fantastic in the gameplay demo that the developers showcased during the conference.

In terms of the gameplay, it appeared to be a more refined version of the series, with players being able to take control of a hawk to spy on enemies. This allows for a better understanding of enemy movements and tracking your targets for assassination based missions. Much of the actual combat featured the usual stealth based kills, but one interesting aspect was a rarity system introduced into gear. Fighting appears to be focused more on agility than standing around waiting for someone to attack so you can counter, which is a step in the right direction. Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to release October 27, 2017.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

Perhaps one of the coolest additions to the Xbox One X line up is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which is a hit multiplayer shooter that has been absolutely dominating on PC. This title pits everyone against everyone in an effort to be one of the last people alive and emerge victorious. This title is set to launch sometime in late 2017.

Deep Rock Galactic

State of Decay II

One of the most well-known exclusives to debut today, State of Decay II is a zombie survival game that focuses on trying to live in a chaotic world. Players can build a society, scavenge for resources, manage finite resources, and of course defend it against hordes of undead monsters. What sets this title apart from others is that the State of Decay series focuses on a more realistic approach to combat, as every zombie is exceptionally dangerous. In the trailer, we got to see a variety of different zombie types such as one that explodes when killed and another that was a massive brute who can literally rip the player in half.

The Darwin Project

For those looking for a more colorful and chaotic multiplayer title, The Darwin Project appeared to be a mix of Paladins and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Information on this title was limited during the press conference, it was clear that users took control of colorful characters that needed to hunt each other in order to survive. There also appears to be a crafting element, as the character at the end could construct armor out of gathered wood and leather.

Dragonball Fighter Z

Black Desert Online

The Last Night

Artful Escape

Code Vein

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is certainly one of the most anticipated games coming to Xbox, as this multiplayer title allows players to be part of a pirate crew and seek treasure across the sea. Users are able to search wrecked ships, deal with dangerous sea creatures, explore gorgeous islands, and fight off foes both human and undead alike.

You can also solve riddles and explore dangerous dungeon like caves for hidden loot, such as Legendary Treasure Chests. We also know that teamwork is a big focus as players carrying the chest will be unable to attack, so they are reliant on others helping them secure the treasure. One of the flashiest moves shown in the trailer is you can fire your character out of a canon to board an enemy pirate ship in combat.

Tacoma

Super Lucky’s Tale

Cuphead

Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 has been a game steeped in mystery since its reveal, as the developers have been shockingly mum on any information regarding the game itself. This is the first time we have gotten a chance to see the game in action and appears to have kept the crazy combat that the series is known for. We even managed to get a release date for this title, as it’s set to come out November 7, 2017.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War

Shadow of War has to be one of the most anticipated titles set to come out this year and we got a more in-depth look at the combat during Microsoft’s press conference. Much of the combat consisted of the same free-flowing battle system we saw in the original, however, it appears to be far more fluid this time around. We also got a very brief glimpse at what an assault looks like on an Overlord’s heavily defended keep. Yet, the most notable improvement is to the orcs themselves who are filled with far more personality and humor, making them way more memorable to interact with.  There is no doubt that the wildly popular Nemesis System has been heavily refined and expanded upon in Shadow of War.
