Salmon Run is the unique PvE (Player vs Environment) activity in Splatoon 2 that tasks a team of four with collecting golden eggs from angry fish monsters. This mode is one of the best ways to earn rewards in Splatoon 2, however, what might surprise players is that Salmon Run isn’t always available. Unlike the other game modes, there are set dates and times for when you can fight the hordes of mutated salmon.
To check the schedule for Salmon Run first press X and then scroll over the “Stages” tab at the top. Once this is completed, highlight the “Salmon Run” tab to view the dates and times for when this mode is live. Usually, Salmon Run is only available for one day at a time, for 12 hours, so make sure to play when it’s live. Players can also see the four unique weapons that they will be randomly required to use along with the stage you can play on. Until Salmon Run unlocks the only way to play this mode is by starting up a private game in the Splatoon 2 Arcade.
This game type is perhaps the best way to earn money in Splatoon 2 since some of the special rewards can pay upwards of 20,000 gold. We highly recommend that you always try to finish the daily rewards offered and if possible grab the monthly rewards. Outside of the items on SplatNet, these are the best rewards you can earn in the game. Since most of the shop items only have a few slots open, this makes clothing like the Squiddor Polo extremely valuable. Being able to have four abilities on a single part of your outfit can give you a huge advantage in PvP.
At the time of writing this, Salmon Run will not return until July 25 at 8:00 a.m. ET / 11:00 p.m. PT.
