The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Update 1.3.1: What Changed?

The Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild

It has been over a month since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild last received an actual update but Nintendo delivered another one today. We received the first DLC pack at the end of June and while that added a lot of new gameplay, it also introduced a bug that Nintendo is ironing out with this patch.

This update, dubbed Version 1.3.1, will download automatically if your Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet and will need to be updated to use the game’s Internet features.

While it also mentions that there has been various fixes to gameplay, this patch has also changed a couple more things. The patch notes say a new news channel will be opening up in two days that will allow players to obtain in-game items through what is called Tips from the Wild. This appears to be one of more major updates to hit the game with this addition.

Nintendo is also fixing the bug in Master Mode where defeating monsters for Kilton would not register toward the overall completion of the game. Master Mode is already hard enough without this bug plaguing it. With the update, this bug should be a thing of the past.

The complete list of patch notes is below:

  • We have fixed the issue in Pack 1: The Master Trials of the Expansion Pass, in which defeating certain enemies for Kilton was not counted toward completion when playing in Master Mode.
  • In-game items can now be obtained from launching the software from certain articles distributed through a new News channel (“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Tips from the Wild”) which can be accessed through News on the Home menu. This channel is expected to open on 8/9/2017. Depending on your game progress and location, certain items may not be obtainable.
  • Various fixes to improve gameplay.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Tips from the Wild will not be available on the Wii U.

So those with a wii u miss out again. Even though this game was originally for the wii u. Port to the switch came later, the fact you’re sticking two fingers up to us who are playing on wii u is not appreciated, and I would expect better from a company of your reputation

The patch also, sadly, fixed the Trial of the Sword world glitch, which can only be activated by starting any of the trials on a file that has no completed Divine Beasts, then warping into the interior of a Divine Beast and warping back. The glitch was very useful to players looking to stock up on monster parts, arrows, weapons, and recovering lost expansion gear or farming Korok seeds for inventory space.
