Fortnite: Battle Royale Adding Consumable Bush Disguise

Fortnite: Battle Royale isn’t done adding new things to the game. A recent update gave us many things such as a cosmetics shop, Seasons, leaderboards and more. A new consumable was added to the game called Slurp Juice which both healed players and increased their shield.

V-bucks were introduced into the game as the new type of currency that is used to buy new skins and cosmetics for your character. You can get these V-bucks by purchasing them or completing quests in the PvE version of Fortnite.

Players have the option of selecting between skins for their glider, harvesting tool and outfit. None of the skins will have any effect on the game but you will look a bit cooler than everyone else, which is what’s really important. It appears that whatever character is wearing the skin when you purchase it will become your character every game. It’s not quite changing your character but it’s getting closer.

Another new update is coming that will introduce a new cosmetic into the game. This cosmetic is different from others in that you will consume it instead of putting it on from the menu. We’re talking about the bush.

For patch 1.8.2, Fortnite: Battle Royale is introducing a way for players to disguise as a bush. While players have already been hiding in bushes since the game released, this gives players a way to actually be the bush. Previously, you’d be able to see parts of the player sticking out of the bush but it looks like this disguise will eliminate that issue.

Judging from the video Epic Games released, it doesn’t look like it’ll be very easy to tell whether a player is a bush so some kinks might have to be worked out before we see the official release. What we do know is that the bush will be a very rare item so you won’t just see them running wild in every game.

The bush in-game consumable will have Legendary rarity and the player will be disguised until they begin to take damage, according to Fortnite’s official Twitter page. The video shows the player running with the bush disguise still on so presumably you’ll be able to move with the cosmetic and not just be rooted in one spot, like most bushes in the world. A common fear that many players likely share is that the bush looks too much like a normal bush. Since we haven’t gotten to see how it works in-game yet, we don’t know if there are any signs of the bush being a player.

No official release date has been given for patch 1.8.2 or the bush but it seems like it’ll be here sooner rather than later. If we’re seeing a video of actual in-game footage, we’d have to imagine it is almost ready to be deployed into the game. It’s possible it could arrive before the Halloween event finishes up.

The bush and the rest of the patch will be here tomorrow. You can read the full patch notes here.
