When Luann De Lesseps brought her relationship with now-husband Tom D’Agostino into the spotlight on Real Housewives of New York, she probably wasn’t expecting all the infidelity rumors and negativity. But, that’s exactly what she got. D’Agostino has been a major topic of conversation among cast members for the past two seasons, especially since he dated two other cast-mates and was caught cheating on De Lesseps. Prior to the couple getting married, De Lesseps said they worked out their issues and she had no reservations about tying the knot. Even so, many of her friends and cast members voiced their concerns on RHONY. Regardless of the odds stacked against them, the couple got married and they continue to be scrutinized by the public. Because of this, unfortunately, their bad moments are quite visible to the public. Recently, Page Six reported that De Lesseps and her husband were spotted having an argument at Le Bilboquet restaurant and De Lesseps spoke out about the altercation to E! News. De Lesseps explained that:
What couple doesn’t have lovers’ quarrels? Tom and I are very passionate and very much in love with each other and things happen. Unfortunately we are very much public people and so everybody likes to talk about it. From the Housewives to the restaurant, it’s very hard to keep privacy.
De Lesseps also addressed reports that she slapped D’Agostino at the restaurant as well and she said:
It was more of a tap then a slap. It was a lovers’ quarrel. I think all couples go through these things … It was made to be a much bigger deal. People like to gossip, people like to talk. That can weigh heavily on a relationship. Tom and I have been through a lot, but we love each other. We aren’t going to let gossip or rumors get the best of us.
When it comes down to it, De Lesseps said that:
Sometimes big love affairs … can be tumultuous … Tom and I are good. We love each other and you work through things. That’s what couples do—so everything is fine and we are happy.
Husband D’Agostino has also commented on the status of his marriage to De Lesseps, telling Us Weekly:
There is a lot of love here. We want it to succeed.
Page Six reports that the couple has supposedly broken up and gotten back together several times since their New Year’s Eve wedding.
Tonight, Luann De Lesseps is scheduled to appear on Watch What Happens Live so she will most likely address split rumors and other reports surrounding her marriage on the show. WWHL airs on Bravo at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
