With the NFL preseason less than two months, dynasty league activity is ramping up. Whether you are joining a startup league or evaluating your current roster with an eye towards trades, Heavy is here to help.

While everyone views rankings slightly differently, here are a few notes about my methodology. You’ll notice veterans are ranked slightly higher in my rankings than many others. My evaluation of players tends to have an emphasis on a two to three year window. Too many times teams forgo winning now in hopes of building a super team of the future. The problem is players tend to look a lot different than we think after a few years have passed.

Thomas Rawls was thought to be the new Beast Mode in Seattle and was a highly coveted player in 2016 startup drafts. This year, he is going in the later rounds after the Seahawks brought in multiple new running backs in light of Rawls’ inability to stay on the field in 2016.

Players like Sammy Watkins, Keenan Allen and Martavis Bryant take a slight hit in my rankings. Their inability to stay on the field knocks them down for me. While I see value in taking a chance on them as a WR3, their current ADP (average draft position) means I am unlikely to own them as other owners are willing to take a chance on them sooner in drafts.

There are several quarterbacks in my top 100 list which can be a bit controversial. It is true you can get by with low-level quarterbacks on your team. For me, it is about value, and often times a quarterback like Drew Brees offers more stability than the position players drafted around the same ADP. I can rest confidently with Brees as my quarterback for three years (at a very high level) while the other players’ production is less of a certainty.

The following rankings are based on one quarterback leagues in a PPR format which has become the un-official standard format in dynasty leagues. In two quarterback and super-flex leagues, quarterbacks will go early and often. You would be wise to adjust these rankings accordingly. The same is true for tight ends in tight end premium leagues.
