Howard University Hospital Patient Being Tested for Ebola

A patient at Howard University Hospital in Washington is being tested for Ebola after exhibiting symptoms. The patient had been to Nigeria recently. The hospital has released a statement:

We can confirm that a patient has been admitted to Howard University Hospital in stable condition, following travel to Nigeria and presenting with symptoms that could be associated with Ebola.

In an abundance of caution, we have activated the appropriate infection control protocols, including isolating the patient.

Our medical team continues to evaluate and monitor progress in close collaboration with the CDC and the Department of Health.

WUSA reports that the patient is in stable condition.

News of this potential Ebola infection comes after the diagnosis of Liberian man Thomas Eric Duncan in Dallas earlier this week, and the diagnosis of NBC cameraman Ashoka Mukpo in Liberia.
