Bellator may be in the midst of their second tournament season, but they’re already looking forward to a bantamweight tournament.
Danny Tims (9-2-1) earned the first spot in the tourney with his dominant victory over Brian Davidson at Bellator 16 Thursday night. The announcement shows that the promotion is going to move forward with the anticipated bantamweight tournament that had been rumored. The news was delivered by Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney after last night’s event.
The 135-pound tournament is slated for August of this year, and the promotion expects to verify the other participants in the coming weeks. Bellator Fighting Championships is now in its second season of tournaments and having much success with them, which is likely the reason they will be including the dynamic 135-pound weight class.
