Emelianenko Could Fight Silva If Werdum Fight Falls Through

Fedor Emelianenko says he is willing to fight Antonio Silva if talks with his scheduled next opponent, Fabricio Werdum, fall through. The news was first reported by MMAFighting.com.

Fedor also reassured everyone that he has no plans on leaving M-1 Global, a company in which Emelianenko is part owner.

“I have no intentions leaving M-1 Global,” Fedor said at a press conference in Moscow this weekend. “We have a very good partnership, so I don’t see any reasons why I should break-up my current deal with that organization. My next opponent will be Fabricio Werdum. We are currently negotiating with his team but if something goes wrong we will try to reach an agreement with Antonio Silva.”

Fedor made his much anticipated Strikeforce debut in November with an impressive victory over then undefeated Brett Rogers. Strikeforce is targeting the Fedor/Werdum fight to take place on June 26 in San Jose, Calif.

However, if negotiations with Werdum’s camp breaks off it looks like “Bigfoot” Silva could be next up for Emelianenko.
