Diaz, Souza top $463,500 fighter payroll
Strikeforce champions Nick Diaz and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza came out as top earners from this past weekend’s “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg,” leading the $463,500 fighter payroll.
MMAjunkie.com received the figures from the Calfornia State Athletic Commission earlier today.
The welterweight champion Diaz took on Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos in the evening’s main event, and his submission victory netted him an impressive $150,000. Souza, meanwhile, took home a nice chunk of the payroll as well, earning $85,000 following his submission victory over Robbie Lawler.
Even though he was submitted, Lawler earned $65,000 for his efforts, which comes just 10 grand shy of Roger Gracie‘s salary. Gracie submitted mixed martial arts veteran Trevor Prangley during the first bout of the main card, which was broadcast live on Showtime.
