Last Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Silva vs. Fedor” event set a new company record on subscription channel Showtime.

The Feb. 12 event averaged 741,000 viewers and peaked with 1.1 million viewers for the main event between Antonio Silva and Fedor Emelianenko.

MMAJunkie.com passed along news of the numbers on Tuesday morning, and HeavyMMA.com confirmed them with a source in the cable industry.

The new ratings record far surpasses the one previously held by a bout between Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg.

Silva ended Emelianenko’s run in the Strikeforce world heavyweight grand prix with a shocking victory due to doctor’s stoppage after the second round of their main event bout. Emelianenko openly contemplated retirement after the bout.
