Trigg, Phillips meet at BAMMA 6
A middleweight bout between UFC veteran Frank Trigg and John Phillips is likely for BAMMA 6 in May.
MMAjunkie.com reported the match up earlier today after learning of the news from sources close to negotiations.
Trigg, who has competed in elite promotions during his lengthy career, saw his second stint in the UFC come to an abrupt halt after being viciously knocked out by Matt Serra at UFC 109. Prior to that, he was knocked out by Josh Koscheck in the first round of their UFC 103 contests. Since his UFC career came to an end, the former top contender returned to action in the Israel FC promotion, earning a technical knockout victory.
Meanwhile, Phillips is looking to build off a five-fight winning streak which includes nothing but knockout victories. During the streak, he did not see the second half of the first round, while three of the fights did not even last one minute. He last fought at BAMMA 4, defeating James Zikic via knockout.
BAMMA 6 will also include UFC veterans Phil Baroni and Aaron Wilkinson and features a middleweight title fight between Murilo Rua and champion Tom Watson. The event is set for Wembley Arena in London, England on May 21.
