Bellator 39: Ratings Rise With 174,000 Viewers

Bellator 39 draws 174,000 viewers

Bellator Fighting Championships’ ratings are on the rise with the 174,000 viewers that tuned in to watch last Saturday’s event, Bellator 39, live on MTV2.

MMAjunkie.com confirmed the news with an industry source earlier today.

The entertaining event took place at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and featured a lightweight title bout between champion Eddie Alvarez and top contender Pat Curran. Curran displayed a tremendous amount of heart, but had little else to offer the dominant Alvarez, who took home his belt with a unanimous decision.

Also on the card, Patricky Freire earned a vicious flying-knee knockout over Toby Imada, while UFC veteran Ben Saunders put his knees to work as well, decimating Matt Lee for two and one-half rounds before the cageside doctor stepped in to stop the contest.

The nearly 175,000 viewers displays a solid increase in ratings when compared to the measly 150,000 viewers drawn by the previous event, though the figure still falls well short of the viewership of the first two Bellator events this season.
