Bellator 41 draws an unimpressive 132,000 viewers

Bellator 41 was the promotion’s seventh event of the current season, and the ratings come in as the seventh best.

MMAjunkie.com learned today that the event drew a disappointing 132,000 viewers on MTV2, which comes nearly 100,000 viewers short of the season’s highest rated show, Bellator 36. The amount of viewers also was 18,000 short of the second poorest ratings, which were drawn by Bellator 38.

Last Friday’s event featured a non-title fight between featherweight champion Joe Warren and Marcos Galvao, which ended in a unanimous decision victory for the champion. In the co-main event, which also went also nearly went all three rounds, Patricio Freire picked up the knockout win to defeat Wilson Reis in the semifinals of the featherweight tournament.

Bellator looks to rebound in ratings this coming Friday with Bellator 42, but a back injury has caused main event fighter and former UFC heavyweight Paul Buentello out of his contest with heavyweight champion Cole Konrad. MMAjunkie.com also reported that bad news for the promotion earlier today, making a potential increase in viewers seemingly less likely.
