Gracie vs. Lawal moved to September

A light heavyweight contest between Roger Gracie and Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has a new date.

According to MMAWeekly.com, the two 205 lb. fighters will be meeting at Strikeforce’s upcoming September event.

Once a champion, Lawal took his belt and undefeated record into the cage against Rafael Cavalcante earlier this year, but he left the cage empty handed and no longer without a blemish on his record. Now, he hopes to grind his way back to a title shot, looking for an opportunity to fight current champion Dan Henderson at some point in the near future.

The same can be said for Gracie, who has represented his family name well throughout his young career. The 4-0 jiu-jitsu ace last fought against Trevor Prangley this past January, stopping the journeyman with a rear naked choke submission.

Strikeforce’s September event has yet to receive a name, but it does have a date. Gracie and Lawal will meet on the main card on the tenth of the month alongside main event competitors Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Luke Rockhold, who will fight for the middleweight title.
