Cavalcante, Beerbohm meet in Hoffman Estates
A lightweight bout between Gesias Cavalcante and Lyle Beerbohm is official for “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” this July.
Strikeforce officials confirmed the match up last night.
Cavalcante’s last time in the cage was not a success, as the lightweight contender and fast-rising prospect Justin Wilcox fought to the result of no contest due to an eye poke early in the second round. Prior to that contest, the Brazilian was defeated by Josh Thomson via unanimous decision.
Like his upcoming opponent, Beerbohm is also in search of redemption after going without a win in his past two bouts. After beginning his career with a 16-0 record, Beerbohm was defeated by Pat Healy via unanimous decision. Under two months later, he was defeated by top tier 155 lb. fighter Shinya Aoki.
“Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” is set for July 30 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The card features a main event between Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson, who will be fighting at catchweight.
