Strikeforce heads back to Ohio

The Strikeforce Grand Prix Semi-Finals finally have a home.

MMAjunkie.com reported on Thursday morning that Strikeforce’s Sept. 10 event will be held at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. The event features the semi-finals of the heavyweight grand prix tournament and is the second Strikeforce event to hit Ohio in 2011.

The main card will air on Showtime and features Josh Barnett vs. Sergei Kharitonov and Antonio Silva vs. Daniel Cormier. Tournament favorite Alistair Overeem was pulled from the event earlier this week after telling Zuffa that he would not be ready to compete until October at the earliest, and former Olympian (and tournament alternate) Cormier was slotted to take his place.

The event also features a Strikeforce middleweight title fight between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Luke Rockhold. Roger Gracie also faces Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.
