Melendez, Masvidal expected to meet in December
A lightweight title bout between Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez and top contender Jorge Masvidal is likely for December 17.
Melendez last fought this past April when he blasted Tatsuya Kawajiri in what was just another very impressive title defense. Prior to that, the 155 lb. champ defeated Shinya Aoki in a very lopsided five round bout.
Meanwhile, Masvidal has also been impressive as of late, earning the title shot in a dominant win over K.J. Noons in June. The victory was his second straight since returning to the lightweight division and extended his unbeaten streak as a Strikeforce employee.
